The Tapes She Left Behind

Synopsis

Declan watches the tapes left behind by his girlfriend, Mara, who has been confined to a psychiatric institution. Across ten tapes, Mara reveals her deteriorating mental state—depression, hallucinations, self-destructive impulses—and her desperate, unwavering love for him. Declan left because Mara's mental illness was tearing them both apart, but each tape shatters him a little more. As Mara struggles to distinguish reality from the darkness in her mind, she continues to wait for the one person who ever made her feel seen. In her final tape, she whispers, "If you're watching this, then I'm already dead." Panicked, Declan races to the institution, terrified that he's already too late. What he finds changes both of their lives forever.
