Chapter 2
A few seconds passed, and the kiss I was expecting never came. I snapped my eyes open to find Edward lying there, perfectly behaved, a smile playing on his lips.
How could he be so indifferent when I was basically throwing myself at him? Was I the only one who took that whole "you two are madly in love" thing to heart?
It was said that one gotta be bold if they wanted to get lucky. So I leaned in, straddling him, my palms pressing down on his shoulders.
He tensed up instantly, his eyes darkening, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed. Then he reached out and grabbed my waist.
So he was just pretending to be indifferent.
"Honey, wanna do something fun?" I teased.
Three minutes later, I couldn't help but blurt out, "Not here."
"Babe, can you help me out?" His voice was low and husky, his warm breath brushing against my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
Three more minutes passed, and I sucked in a sharp breath, locking eyes with Edward, both of us wide-eyed.
Was this even right?
The air went quiet for a moment.
He started to explain, his cheeks flushed red, but I quickly cut him off. "It's okay, I understand," I said.
He just forgot how to do it because of the amnesia. No big deal
He seemed to relax a bit, but then got all nervous again, giving me those innocent puppy eyes. "You won't think I'm a loser, will you?"
He was feeling insecure. What could I do? Just gotta pamper him.
I quickly comforted him, "How could I ever think that? I love you more than anything."
He lowered his head and kissed me. "Sweetheart, I love you most too."
That night, we drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms.

When I woke up the next morning, Edward was nowhere to be seen.
It wasn't until I asked the butler that I learned he had already headed to the office at the crack of dawn.
Honestly, he was recovering way faster than I was. Even with amnesia, he ran Grant Holdings like it was second nature. Meanwhile, though I remembered I was some badass CEO, just glancing at a report gave me a headache.
With nothing better to do, I asked the housekeeper to whip up a few of Edward's favorite dishes, planning to bring them over later.
After getting all dressed up, I had the driver take me to Grant Holdings.
When I arrived, I gave the receptionist a faint smile and asked softly, "Hi, is Edward in his office?"
The receptionist looked like she'd just seen a ghost, stammering, "M-Ms. Quinn, are you looking for Mr. Grant?"
"Yep. I brought him some home-cooked food," I said, holding up the insulated lunchbox.
"Y-Yes, he's there," she stammered, looking flustered.
"Thanks. Oh, and next time, just call me Mrs. Grant," I added.
I walked into the elevator, totally clueless that the Grant Holdings group chat was already exploding with gossip about me.
Edward was in a meeting, so I just sat in his office, waiting for him.
Just then, a woman in a sharp black-and-white suit walked in.
She stood there with her arms crossed, radiating total boss-lady vibes. Anyone who didn't know better would think she was Edward's wife.
I gave her a once-over, and it hit me. She was Jessica Shaw, my arch-nemesis.
Jessica had a thing for Edward and was always trying to mess with me, both in public and behind my back. But for some reason, Edward actually hired her as his secretary.
"Vivian, have you no shame? You already divorced Edward, and you're still hanging all over him," Jessica scoffed.
I just stared at her, totally confused. Divorced? She was cursing Edward and me to split up? How could she be so mean?
I shot her a glare and slapped her across the face. "Watch your filthy mouth. Edward and I are perfectly happy together," I snapped.
Jessica was furious, clutching her cheek where I'd slapped her. "You actually hit me? I'm telling Edward!"
After saying that, she balled up her other fist and tried to take a swing at me.
But just as she raised her hand, a firm, masculine hand shot out of nowhere, grabbing her wrist mid-air with such force that she cried out in pain.
"Go ahead, try touching her again," Edward growled.
Holy crap, he was so damn hot.
"Edward, she hit me first!" Jessica whined.
Edward yanked her wrist hard, making her lose her balance and fall to the ground.
"Don't act familiar with me. From now on, call me Mr. Grant. Get lost," Edward said coldly.
Just watching Jessica fall made me wince.
Jessica covered her aching ass and slunk out of the room, totally humiliated.
"Is your hand okay, sweetheart?" Edward got down on one knee in front of me, gently trying to soothe my hand.
I pulled away with a pout and a wounded look. "Do you not love me anymore?"
He instantly pulled me into his lap, holding me tight and swearing his undying love. "Babe, you're the one I love most."
"Then why is she even your secretary?" I refused to let it slide.
"Baby, I've lost all my memories. I don't even know how she ended up as my secretary. But don't worry, I'll fire her right away," Edward promised.
"Alright, I'll let it slide this time," I said. "Now put me down, will you?"
I tried to wiggle out of his grip, but Edward just kept me firmly in his arms, his eyes glued to me, burning with desire.
Feeling something hard down there, I swallowed nervously.
"Baby, how about we pick up where we left off last night?" Edward murmured.
