Chapter 5
Julia Miller's POV
The front door was kicked open with a bang.
Edward burst into the room like an enraged lion.
Finding nobody was in the room, he yanked open the bathroom door in a fury.
The moment he yanked back the covers, I finally lost it and slapped him right across the face. "Edward, are you out of your mind?"
Edward smirked, looking way too pleased with himself. "Julia, I knew you were messing with me. So, what was with that man's voice on the phone? Some kind of voice changer? Still, I gotta admit, I don't hate your little schemes."
Seeing that cocky look on his face, I just felt disgusted.
As I was about to say something, a clear male voice came from the doorway. "Julia, I brought you some water. Do you want it now?"
When he saw Edward, the young man raised an eyebrow. "Oh, your husband's back. Want me to go?"
Edward froze on the spot, as if he'd been struck by lightning.
He whipped his head around to stare at the guy in the doorway, his face a picture of disbelief. "Julia, who is he?"
Seeing his bloodshot eyes, I let out a soft laugh. "Here, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Carson Erickson. Carson, this is my husband, Edward Miller."
Edward yanked my arm so hard that it felt like he might snap it in two. "Julia, how dare you. How could you let another guy touch you?" he shouted.
I let out a cold laugh. Look how pathetic he was. Wasn't he the one who suggested an open marriage in the first place?
I just agreed to it and actually followed through, but now he was the one losing his mind.
"Hey, you're hurting her." Carson gripped Edward's wrist tightly, shooting him a frosty glare. "Julia, are you okay?"
Edward, like a wild animal defending his turf, charged at Carson with fists swinging.
The two of them were instantly locked in a brawl.
Edward was no match for Carson. He got beaten down in just a few moves.
Edward managed to land a kick to Carson's stomach and then grabbed an ashtray, about to swing it at Carson.
I shoved Edward away, giving him an exasperated look. "Edward, are you done making a scene yet? Grow up, will you? Can you be reasonable for once? Carson, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Edward stared at me, disbelief and pain flashing in his eyes as he saw how much I cared about Carson. "Am I done making a scene?
"Julia, you dragged some random guy into our home, let him wear my clothes, and messed around with him in our bedroom, and now you ask if I'm done making a scene?"
I sighed, picked up my phone, and hit play.
"If you can't stand me cheating, then go find someone for yourself," Edward's voice echoed through the room. "We could just have an open marriage. If you can't handle that, don't say I didn't give you the option."
The words kept looping in the room, and Edward's face went pale as a sheet.
"Edward, I really don't understand what you're so mad about," I said, my tone flat. "Wasn't it you who suggested the open marriage? I'm just going along with what you wanted. So why are you complaining now?"
Edward snapped, his voice suddenly loud and agitated, "It's because I..."
When he saw the mocking look in my eyes, he couldn't get the words out.
Carson scoffed, throwing an arm around my shoulders and shooting Edward a look full of disdain. "Let me guess. You're so sure Julia loves you, and you thought she'd never go for anyone else.
"That's why you felt so safe suggesting an open marriage. Man, that's low."
Seeing Edward completely lost for words, I smirked at him in contempt.
I got dressed, took Carson by the hand, and led him out of the room.
Suddenly, Edward grabbed my arm, his eyes red and wild as he stared at me. "Where are you going?"
"Obviously, I'm leaving. Seeing you ruins my mood," I shot back.
Edward glared at me, his voice shaky. "Are you seriously gonna leave with him? Julia, am I nothing to you now?"
I smirked coldly. My voice was ice. "Edward, if you can't handle this, just file for divorce. I'm down whenever you are."
