I figured Edward would be gone by that night.

But surprisingly enough, he was still at my place when I got home the next day.

There were cigarette butts everywhere on the living room floor. Edward's eyes were bloodshot, with dark circles beneath them.

He looked like he hadn't slept a wink all night.

When Edward saw me come in, his eyes rimmed with red in an instant, and I could see a flicker of hope in his gaze.

"Did you two really do it last night? Please, tell me it's not true," Edward said. "You're just mad at me…
