Chapter 2
Chapter 2: The Alpha's Cold Command
Sabrina was sitting alone in the living room of the Harrison mansion when her phone suddenly rang. The name on the screen was Leo, Alpha George Harrison's assistant, and her heart tightened as she answered the call.
"Luna, I am sorry to bother you," Leo said carefully. "Alpha George asked me to tell you to stay home and not make any comment about the controversy."
Sabrina's eyes hardened. "He wants me to stay inside?"
"Yes, Luna," Leo replied. "He does not want you going outside or speaking to the pack members about what happened."
A bitter smile appeared on Sabrina's lips. "Of course. He does not want me to make things difficult for him and Mia."
Leo sighed softly. "Please understand, Luna. Alpha George thinks silence is the best choice right now."
"The best choice for whom?" Sabrina asked, her voice low. "For the Harrison family or for the woman he brought into my life?"
Leo had no answer.
Sabrina looked toward the tall windows overlooking the Crimson Shadow Pack grounds. "Tell George I heard his order. But do not tell him that I am afraid of him."
"I will tell him, Luna," Leo said before ending the call.
The room became quiet again, but Sabrina's phone buzzed almost at once. A message from George appeared on the screen, and the words were as cold as his voice had been.
Stay home. Don't complicate things.
Sabrina stared at the message for several seconds. There was no apology, no concern for his mate, and no explanation for why another woman had been allowed to humiliate her.
Her inner wolf, Amira, growled deeply. He thinks we are a problem.
Sabrina closed her eyes and placed a hand over her heart. I know, Amira. Stay calm. We cannot reveal our wolf.
He is our Alpha, yet he treats us like a stranger, Amira answered bitterly.
Sabrina slowly opened her eyes. That is why our secret must remain hidden.
She opened her social media, hoping to distract herself, but the screen was filled with cruel comments from members of the pack.
"Busted! Sabrina Johnson is just a country girl who married into a powerful family!"
"She did not even finish school. How did someone like her become the Luna?"
"I heard her family had money problems!"
"She must have used some trick to make Alpha George marry her!"
"She should be grateful the Harrison family accepted her!"
"Support Mia Wales! She is much better for our Alpha!"
Sabrina's fingers trembled as she read another comment.
"George and Mia are true love. Sabrina should know when to leave!"
Agnes Ruiz, who had been standing nearby, noticed Sabrina's expression. "Luna, please stop reading those comments. They are cruel, and those people know nothing about you."
Sabrina gave a tired smile. "They do not need to know me, Agnes. They only need to believe what George and Mia show them."
Agnes frowned. "But you are his mate. How can he allow people to treat you like this?"
Sabrina looked down at the phone. "Because he has already chosen who he wants to protect."
Agnes moved closer and gently touched her shoulder. "You do not deserve this, Luna."
Sabrina swallowed the pain in her throat. "I know."
Another notification suddenly appeared.
Mia Wales had started a livestream.
Agnes looked at the screen and immediately frowned. "Luna, please do not watch her again."
Sabrina pressed the livestream anyway. "I need to know what she is doing."
The screen showed Mia sitting inside Alpha George's private office. She was dressed in an expensive suit and looked completely comfortable behind George's large desk.
Agnes stared in disbelief. "She is inside Alpha George's office?"
Sabrina's face became cold. "Yes. She wants everyone to see her there."
Mia smiled at the camera as she slowly picked up a silver pen from George's desk. Sabrina recognized it instantly.
"That is my pen," Sabrina whispered.
Agnes looked at her. "The birthday gift you gave Alpha George?"
Sabrina nodded. "I spent weeks looking for that limited-edition pen."
She remembered the day she gave it to George. She had been nervous, but he had smiled and told her he would always keep it.
Now Mia was holding it between her fingers.
Mia laughed softly as she looked at the comments. "Everyone is asking about this office. George was kind enough to let me work here today."
The comments quickly flooded the screen.
"Mia already looks like the real Luna!"
"She belongs behind Alpha George's desk!"
"George and Mia look perfect together!"
"Where is Sabrina now?"
Sabrina's jaw tightened.
Mia lifted the pen and turned it slowly beneath the light. "This is such a beautiful pen. George told me his old pen was not working well anymore."
Agnes's eyes widened. "She is talking about your gift."
Mia smiled sweetly at the camera. "So he asked me to help him choose a new one."
Sabrina stared at the screen, feeling something crack inside her.
"She is calling my gift old," Sabrina said quietly.
Agnes shook her head. "She is doing it to hurt you."
"I know," Sabrina replied. "She wants me to react."
Mia continued playing with the pen while pretending to read the comments.
"Please do not attack Sabrina," she said with a gentle voice. "I really feel sorry for her. I never wanted to cause problems between her and George."
Agnes scoffed. "She is pretending to be innocent again."
Sabrina's eyes remained fixed on Mia. "She always does that. She hurts someone, then acts like she is the victim."
Mia lowered her eyes and sighed. "I understand why Sabrina might be upset. But I hope she will stay calm and not create more trouble for George."
Sabrina's expression changed.
"More trouble?" she whispered.
Agnes reached for her hand. "Luna, do not let her words break you."
Sabrina slowly pulled her hand away from the phone. "She is sitting in my husband's office, holding my gift, and calling me trouble."
Amira growled inside her mind. She wants our place.
Sabrina breathed slowly. Let her want it.
Why? Amira asked.
Sabrina looked at the screen one last time. "Because she does not know what she is truly taking."
Mia smiled again while the pack members praised her.
"She is so beautiful!"
"She should be our next Luna!"
"Sabrina cannot compare with Mia!"
Sabrina closed the livestream.
For several seconds, she stood silently in the middle of the room. Her heart still hurt, but the tears she had been fighting did not fall.
Agnes looked at her worriedly. "Luna, are you all right?"
Sabrina wiped the corner of her eye and answered, "No, Agnes. I am hurt."
Agnes lowered her head sadly.
"But I am not weak," Sabrina continued, her voice becoming firm. "George can order me to stay home, but he cannot control what happens inside my heart."
Amira gave a quiet growl of pride. That is our Luna.
Sabrina looked toward the dark grounds of the Crimson Shadow Pack. She had spent years hiding her wolf and living quietly beside a man who never truly tried to understand her.
Now, everyone believed she was powerless.
Sabrina took a slow breath and whispered, "Let them believe it."
Her eyes became cold as she added, "For now."
