Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Luna's Anniversary Betrayal
On her third wedding anniversary, Sabrina Johnson sat in the Harrison pack's mansion, staring at the livestream on her phone. Her hands were cold, but her heart felt as if it had been thrown into a fire when she saw Alpha George Harrison walking with actress Mia Wales.
George had one arm around Mia's waist as cameras flashed around them. He did not look ashamed or worried about being seen with another woman, even though Sabrina was his mate and Luna of the Crimson Shadow Pack.
Her loyal maid, Agnes Ruiz, stood nearby, watching Sabrina's face carefully. "Luna, please do not keep watching this. You have been sitting here for almost an hour, and you have not even touched your food."
Sabrina did not look away from the screen. "I want to see how far they are willing to go, Agnes. I want to know if George still remembers that this is our wedding anniversary."
Her inner wolf, Amira, suddenly growled inside her mind. He smells like another woman. Our mate is bringing her into our home.
Sabrina closed her eyes for a moment, trying to calm the wolf inside her. I know, Amira. Stay quiet. We cannot let anyone discover what we truly are.
Amira's voice became colder. He should be protecting his Luna, not another woman.
Sabrina swallowed the pain in her throat. "I know."
On the livestream, the camera moved closer to Mia, and Sabrina suddenly noticed the necklace around the actress's neck. Her breathing stopped when she recognized the large diamond pendant shining against Mia's skin.
"That necklace…" Sabrina whispered.
Agnes stepped closer. "What is it, Luna?"
Sabrina stared at the screen. "It is the necklace George promised me."
The necklace had been bought months earlier after Sabrina saw it at an auction. She had admired its delicate design, and George had quietly bought it afterward.
He had held her hand that night and promised, "I bought it for our third anniversary. I want you to wear it when we celebrate."
Sabrina had believed him.
Now the same necklace rested against Mia's neck.
Agnes covered her mouth. "Luna, how could he give that to her?"
Sabrina forced herself to breathe. "Apparently, promises mean nothing to him anymore."
The livestream continued as George and Mia entered the mansion. Sabrina watched in silence as Mia smiled at the cameras and waved like she had every right to enter the Luna's home.
Mia then lifted her phone and started her own livestream.
"Everyone keeps asking where I am," Mia said with a soft laugh. "I think I can finally show you a little."
The camera moved through the mansion.
Sabrina's heart sank when Mia walked toward the master bedroom.
"No," Agnes whispered. "She cannot be serious."
Sabrina's face became pale. "That is our room."
Mia pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The camera showed everything Sabrina knew by heart—the large chandelier, the wide windows, the soft white curtains, and the pearl beside the window that Sabrina had cared for over three years.
Mia walked toward the sofa and sat down lazily.
Sabrina's fingers tightened around her phone.
"She is sitting on your sofa," Agnes said angrily. "Luna, tell me to stop this livestream."
Sabrina shook her head. "No. Let her continue."
Mia smiled at the camera while adjusting the silk robe around her body. It was Sabrina's robe, the one George had once bought for her because he said he loved seeing her wear silk.
Now another woman was wearing it.
Amira snarled inside Sabrina's mind. She is marking our territory.
Sabrina's eyes turned cold. I know.
Mia touched the necklace around her neck and smiled. "Some of you noticed this necklace earlier."
The comments began moving quickly.
"Is that the anniversary necklace?"
"Isn't that the necklace Alpha George bought?"
"Mia looks so beautiful wearing it!"
"Luna Sabrina must be furious!"
"George clearly loves Mia!"
Sabrina read every comment, each one cutting deeper than the last.
Mia looked at the necklace again and gave a shy smile. "I honestly did not expect George to give me something this beautiful."
Agnes looked at Sabrina. "She is lying. She knows exactly what she is doing."
Sabrina remained quiet.
Mia continued, "He said it suited me, so I thought I should wear it for everyone to see."
One viewer commented, "Does this mean you are the future Luna?"
Mia covered her mouth and giggled. "Oh, I cannot answer that. You should ask George."
The comments exploded again.
"OMG! Alpha George is replacing his Luna!"
"True love wins!"
"Sabrina has already lost!"
"Poor Luna!"
"Maybe George never loved Sabrina!"
Sabrina's eyes filled with tears, but she refused to let them fall.
Agnes reached for her hand. "Luna, please do not listen to them. They do not know the truth."
Sabrina slowly pulled her hand back and whispered, "They only know what George allows them to see."
Mia leaned back against the sofa and looked completely comfortable. She ran her fingers over the diamond pendant, enjoying the attention.
"This necklace is really special," Mia said sweetly. "George told me he wanted someone who could truly appreciate it."
Sabrina's chest tightened.
She remembered standing beside George at the auction. She remembered his warm smile when he told her the necklace would be hers.
Now that memory felt like a cruel joke.
Amira's growl became louder. He promised it to us.
Sabrina answered silently, And now he has given it to her.
Then he has chosen, Amira said.
Sabrina looked at the woman wearing her necklace and sitting inside her bedroom. Something inside her began to change.
The pain was still there, but beneath it was anger.
Mia suddenly leaned closer to the camera and spoke in a softer voice. "I hope everyone understands that I never wanted to hurt anyone. I only followed my heart."
Agnes scoffed. "What a liar."
Sabrina gave a bitter smile. "She wants the pack to pity her."
Mia continued speaking with a gentle expression. "I know some people may misunderstand my relationship with George. But love is not something anyone can force."
Sabrina stared at her.
"Love?" she whispered.
Agnes shook her head. "Luna, please do not let her words hurt you."
Sabrina took a slow breath. "She can have his attention. She can have his lies. She can even have the necklace."
Agnes looked surprised. "Luna?"
Sabrina's eyes remained fixed on the screen. "But she cannot make me believe I am worthless."
For the first time that night, Sabrina felt Amira stop fighting against her.
Instead, the wolf became still, watching and waiting.
Mia lifted the necklace again, her fingertip brushing the diamond pendant as the light caught its surface.
"As for this," she purred, stretching out the words with a smile, "George said it matched my dress today, so he just handed it to me."
She paused, enjoying the flood of comments before adding, "He said, 'Out with the old, in with the new.'"
Sabrina stared at the screen.
The words struck harder than any insult.
Agnes looked at her in horror. "Luna…"
Sabrina did not answer.
Her eyes slowly hardened as Amira whispered inside her mind, He chose her.
Sabrina finally closed her phone, her face pale and her heart broken.
But somewhere deep inside her, the Luna who had once trusted Alpha George began to disappear.
