Chapter 2
"My stomach's gonna blow! My guts are on fire!" Luna yelled.
She screamed as she frantically scratched her belly.
Her nails scratched the skin with bloody lines.
Ethan was terrified and quickly squatted down to hold her down.
"Luna! What's wrong?" he asked.
Luna was so out of her mind with pain that she bit down hard on Ethan's wrist.
Ethan snorted in pain, but hugged her tightly and didn't let go.
He glared at me with his eyes red and furious.
"Chloe! What the hell did you do to her?" he shouted.
I stood there, looking down at them.
I said, "What could I possibly do? Didn't she claim she had late-stage stomach cancer?
"The pain is normal for her. Surprised you don't know that, Dr. Harrison?"
The guests around us started whispering.
"Man, she's really screaming. It doesn't look like she's pretending," someone said.
"Could it really be late-stage stomach cancer?" another person wondered.
"Poor thing," someone else added.
Ethan no longer cared about quarreling with me.
Luna's eyes rolled back. She started foaming at the mouth, and even breathing became difficult.
"Luna, hold on! I'm taking you to the hospital right now!" Ethan shouted.
Ignoring the pain in his wrist, Ethan picked Luna up and rushed out.
As he reached the door, he turned back and stared at me.
"Chloe, if anything happens to Luna, I swear I'll make you pay!" he shouted.
I sneered and drained my champagne.
"Get this straight, Ethan.
"Today, you left me for another woman in front of everyone.
"Starting now, our engagement is over.
"I'm dumping you."
Ethan froze for a second, then gritted his teeth and said, "Good! I don't need a cold-hearted woman like you at all!"
With that, he left without looking back.
The hall was dead silent.
Everyone was looking at me.
I put down my glass, went to the stage, and grabbed the microphone.
"Sorry, everyone. Our engagement is off.
"Please suit yourselves and have fun. Everything's on me tonight," I announced.
With that, I gathered up my skirt and left the banquet hall without looking back.
Left behind a group of guests staring at each other in disbelief.
Truth is, I knew exactly what would happen.
Luna would definitely die this time.
My pain transfer power never failed.
She dared to fake stomach cancer? Fine, I had let her feel what that really meant.
And the pain had been cranked up tenfold.
Ethan rushed Luna to the hospital where he worked.
He directly took her into the ER.
Luna was still screaming, filling the entire emergency room.
Ethan pulled some strings and got her an immediate full-body check.
He stood in the control room, staring at the screen.
The moment the results popped up, the on-duty chief doctor gasped in surprise.
"Dr. Harrison, this is impossible!" the chief doctor said.
Ethan shoved the chief aside and leaned closer to the screen.
There was a huge tumor in Luna's stomach, its edges twisted.
Not only that, the liver, lungs, and even bones were all densely packed with metastatic lesions.
This was true late-stage stomach cancer with no hope of being cured.
Ethan's legs gave out, and he almost collapsed to the floor.
"How could this happen? We just did a full check-up at our hospital last month. All her conditions were normal!" he said.
The chief doctor sighed. "But the results don't lie. With this serious stage, she's got at most three months left."
In the emergency room, Luna's screams continued.
They pumped her full of painkillers, shot after shot. But nothing worked.
She was hurting so badly that she tore the hospital sheets apart.
Ethan burst into the room and held Luna's hand tightly.
"Luna, don't be afraid. I'm the best surgeon here. I promise I'll save you!" he said.
Ignoring the chief doctor's objections, he forcibly arranged an emergency surgery.
He was going to personally operate to cut her open and rip that tumor out.
The lights in the operating room were turned on.
Ethan changed into his surgical gown and grabbed the scalpel.
The instant he cut into Luna's abdomen, he was completely desperate.
Her abdominal cavity was flooded with blood and cancerous lumps. Her stomach was almost rotten.
There was no way for him to even begin.
His surgical skills, the thing Ethan was so proud of, were useless.
Ethan's hands started shaking, and the scalpel dropped to the ground.
He leaned against the operating table, covering his face and crying.
Meanwhile, I went back to the Bennett mansion.
As soon as I walked in, a teacup was thrown at me and shattered on the floor right by my feet.
My dad, Arthur Bennett, was sitting on the couch, his face flushed with rage.
"You brat! Do you even realize what you did today?" he shouted.
