Chapter 2
"Memory loss?"
"How could this happen?"
"Is it because of the blood clot in her brain that hasn't dissolved yet?"
Emory Morales asked the doctor with a hint of desperation.
Dr. Peyton Kennedy gave a nod of confirmation.
"Once the blood clot dissolves, she'll be back to normal."
I lay in the hospital bed, quietly observing the IV line delivering fluids into my system. My gaze shifted slightly, settling on Damon Bishop, who stood nearby—tall and unreadable. Just one glance was enough for our eyes to meet.
I quickly looked away, dropping my gaze. It took me several tries to finally speak, my voice coming out raspy.
"Mo... Mom, Da... Dad, you should go home. There are people here to look after me."
I called to them in a voice I hardly recognized as my own.
Before they left, they made sure to tell Damon to stay put and remain at my side while I was in the hospital.
