Chapter 3
In order to steady her, Blake even offered marriage as a bargaining chip.
Serena closed her eyes and answered softly, "Okay."
She decided not to keep the baby.
Blake hugged her and was really happy.
Seizing the moment, Blake said, "Serena, why don't we abort the baby tomorrow?
"This baby didn't come at the right time. Getting pregnant before marriage would ruin your reputation. Wait until we get married before having kids, okay?"
He lowered his head and kept kissing Serena's cheek.
In fact, he wasn't sure if Serena would be willing to abort the baby.
Because she could use the baby to force him to marry her, and those old-fashioned folks in the Chester family would definitely take her side.
But he forgot that he'd never even brought Serena home to meet his family. How could she possibly force him?
Surprisingly, Serena still agreed.
Blake immediately lit up and said excitedly, "Serena, you're the best!
"By the way, Serena, Chloe is always feeling anxious. Until I've dealt with her, let's fake break up first."
Serena looked down at her slightly rounded belly and said, "Okay."
Serena didn't know how Blake had convinced Chloe, but now Chloe believed Serena was just a distant cousin who was strict with Blake.
At first, the whole story was just a test of their relationship.
To keep it real, Blake moved out of the main bedroom and slept on the couch.
He let Chloe stay in the second bedroom, which was supposed to be a baby room.
But when Serena woke up in the morning, she saw two people sleeping on the living room couch.
Chloe lay on Blake's chest and slept soundly.
Blake had his arm wrapped around her waist tightly.
By the time he groggily opened his eyes, Serena had already turned to go out.
Walking on the street, Serena scrolled through her contacts, found a number she'd blocked, and dialed it.
The call was answered almost immediately. "Serena?"
Serena paused and complained softly, "Your brother is such a jerk."
On the other end, there was a deep silence. Serena couldn't even hear the sound of breathing.
After a while, he finally said in a hoarse voice, "I already told you he was a jerk. Where are you now?"
Serena looked up. Before she could stop herself, tears started falling.
"But I'm pregnant," she sobbed.
"I will immediately fly back to take care of you. You don't have to make it official between us. I'm doing this because I want to," the man said.
Hearing this, Serena smiled slightly.
She said, "But I want to get married now."
After a moment's silence, he finally asked cautiously, "Do you want to stay at home or go abroad?"
He was trying to find out if Serena wanted him to help force Blake into marrying her, or if she wanted to marry him herself.
He waited quietly for Serena's next words.
Anyway, no matter what Serena said to him, he was willing to do it.
Serena was like his owner. He was her devoted follower, willing to do anything for her.
The next second, he heard the answer he wanted.
Serena replied, "Come to you."
"Okay. I'll get all the paperwork and my permanent visa sorted within a week. I'll come back to you and pick you up to go abroad," the man said.
Hearing his words, Serena agreed.
After finishing up her resignation paperwork at the company, Serena said goodbye to her colleagues one by one.
Her colleagues beamed and congratulated her, "Serena, don't forget us if you become rich!
"Your husband's so rich, you'd better invite us to a big party at your wedding!"
They all thought that Serena was about to marry Blake.
Not long ago, during Valentine's Day, Blake got caught up in the excitement and bought a ring for Serena.
She was so moved that she posted it on her social media that day. The picture with the ring was placed in the center.
Everyone thought it was a marriage proposal, even Serena thought so.
Until she was struggling to choose a wedding dress and asked Blake what he thought, she felt something was wrong.
Blake stared at her, totally stunned, asking, "Who are you going to marry?"
Hearing this, Serena frowned.
She said, "I'm not in the mood to joke with you right now. I've looked at a lot of dresses, but none of them I like.
"Why don't we ask someone to customize it?"
Blake glanced at the ring on her left middle finger. He suddenly understood something.
Then, he met Serena's gaze, gently took the ring off her middle finger, and put it on her index finger.
He lowered his head and kissed her fingertips softly.
Then he looked at her, saying, "Serena, I'm still young, you know. I don't want to get married so soon.
"Let's date for another year, okay?"
His kisses traced a path from her fingertips, up her wrist, over her chest, and along her neck.
Their heated breaths mingled, making Serena further into his embrace.
When they were crazily lingering in front of floor-to-ceiling windows, Serena suddenly recalled a sentence she'd heard before.
"Love isn't just liking someone, let alone lust."
Blake liked her, so he made no secret of how much he wanted her.
But love was different. It meant one could just cuddle up together on the couch, not doing anything, and still feel that warmth and affection between them.
