Chapter 2
Honestly, a dog flipping through a dictionary to name itself "The Great Evil" sounds totally bonkers.
But hey, Vivian's such a gentle little flower, so understanding, she even got what a dog wanted.
I managed to snag the name I wanted, and now every time Vivian calls me, she has to awkwardly say "The Great Evil" out loud.
When Alexander heard about my naming antics, he just looked completely at a loss for words.
Maybe he's just trying to keep up his cold CEO image; he still hadn't called me by my name.
Everyone knew that in these drama novels, the villainous side chick's whole job was to keep poking at the heroine. Nonstop.
On the third night after I moved in, Sabrina, the queen of fake innocence, sent Vivian a message.
"Ms. Sterling, Mr. Frost and I are on a business trip, and there weren't any other rooms left, so we had to share one.
"But don't worry, Mr. Frost and I are totally innocent."
Then she sent a photo. The bathroom light was on.
Sabrina was grinning smugly at the camera.
She was holding a fancy-looking skincare set.
By the bathroom door, there were a pair of men's slippers, and a black coat was hanging nearby.
Vivian's eyes welled up with tears as she stared at the photo for a long time.
That coat was the one she'd spent ages picking out at the mall for Alexander's birthday.
She'd even sewn a little heart on it herself, and now it was the smoking gun proving he was cheating.
She opened her chat with Alexander, tears silently streaming down her face, but she didn't send a single message.
I put on my own leash and started charging around the house like a maniac.
Vivian had no choice but to get up and grab me, and honestly, her gloom was pretty much gone.
Not letting up, I dragged her straight toward the door.
With the system's power-up and my Beagle instincts, I zoomed all over the neighborhood, dragging her along for the ride.
Gotta give Vivian credit, even though she was totally out of breath, she still did her best to keep up with me.
Once I figured my job was done, I strutted back home, feeling super satisfied with myself.
Vivian rushed through her shower and headed straight for the bed, barely pausing before collapsing onto it.
Right then, Alexander called.
"I left a file at home. Bring it to me."
As soon as he finished speaking, Vivian's eyes closed, and she drifted off into a deep sleep.
Being the thoughtful dog I was, I trotted over, ended the call for her, and switched off her phone for good measure.
At the crack of dawn, Alexander barged into her room.
"Vivian, what's with the attitude? I asked you to bring me a file, and you just shut your phone off?"
Vivian was still groggy from just waking up, but when she saw Alexander yelling at her like that, and then remembered the message from yesterday, her eyes instantly filled with tears.
"Aren't you with Ms. Chase? If I bring you the file, won't I just be messing up your good time?" she said, her voice trembling.
Alexander grabbed her hand, his brows furrowed.
"We're totally innocent. There just weren't any other rooms, so I crashed on the floor last night.
"Why are you so hung up on her? She's just a subordinate."
Seriously? A guy and a girl alone in a room, he already had a partner, and he still had the nerve to say they were innocent?
And come on, a CEO like him couldn't even book an extra room? If this hotel were full, just go to another one!
No way I was letting that slide.
I jumped onto the cabinet, then launched myself at his head, stomping all over him like a warlord.
Alexander, pampered since birth, had never seen anything like this. He was totally flustered, didn't know whether to catch me or just stand there.
"Vivian, it is way too wild. Maybe we should just send it away," he said.
But Vivian pulled me into her arms, shielding me behind her.
"Alexander, The Great Evil's just a kid. He's just not used to the place yet.
"Why are you fussing over a dog?"
Her words hit Alexander right back like a boomerang.
I stood behind Vivian and stuck my tongue out at him.
Alexander looked at Vivian, who was fiercely protecting me, and finally backed down for now.
"It's my fault. I'll keep my distance from other women from now on.
"And...
"And as for the dog, we'll keep him for now. Let's see how he behaves."
I was pretty pleased that Alexander apologized to Vivian.
But honestly, his apology wasn't really sincere.
He couldn't even bring himself to call me The Great Evil.
