Chapter 3
To prove he was serious, Alexander handed Vivian a plush bear that looked just like a pet.
Vivian absolutely adored anything soft and fuzzy, her lovesick brain kicked into gear again.
She wiped last night's drama with Sabrina right out of her mind.
[Here we go, here we go! Major plot point incoming!]
[That plush bear is actually a freebie from the luxury skincare set Alexander gave Sabrina, and now he's trying to pass it off as a gift for Vivian!]
The system's timely announcement ignited my rage.
As the righteous Beagle, The Great Evil, there was no way I was putting up with this nonsense.
Following the system's lead, I bit open the closet door.
After rummaging wildly, I finally dug out the receipt stashed in Alexander's pocket.
The brand name on it was exactly the same as the one in the photo Sabrina sent last night.
I brought the receipt to Vivian, and the moment Alexander saw it, he totally lost his composure.
He snatched the receipt away, but Vivian had already seen it.
Vivian's eyes brimmed with tears, but her voice was defiant.
"Alexander, what am I to you? Am I just some freebie you can toy with whenever you feel like it?"
"No, Vivian, let me explain."
"It's just a reward for the staff. When I saw the freebie, I remembered you like cute stuff, so I brought it back for you."
"What kind of reward needs the CEO to pick it out himself? Alexander, your lies are just laughable."
What a scumbag, coming up with such a lame excuse.
I let out a few barks at him, and Vivian crouched down to pat my head.
She wiped away her tears, her voice resolute. "Let's break up."
Alexander's expression turned icy. He grabbed Vivian's wrist and hauled her to her feet.
"What did you just say? Vivian, you want to break up with me?"
Vivian trembled, but she stared him down, her gaze steady and determined.
"Yes, I'm breaking up with you."
In the blink of an eye, Alexander went full alpha, dragging Vivian straight to the basement door.
I kicked into guard dog mode, lunging at him, ready to sink my teeth in.
But he'd learned his lesson; he scooped me up and clamped me tight against his left side.
He swung open the basement door and shoved Vivian inside, showing zero mercy.
"Vivian, you're not coming out until you admit you're wrong," he said, voice cold as ice.
The infamous basement scene had finally arrived, no windows, not a single ray of sunlight.
Backstory says Vivian had childhood trauma and suffers from claustrophobia.
Right now, she was crying and screaming.
"Alexander, you can't do this to me! Let me out!"
But Alexander just locked the basement door with zero hesitation, tossing the key to his assistant, who stood frozen in place.
"Don't let her out until she admits she's wrong. And don't give her any food while she's in there," he ordered, voice chilling.
Then, as if he suddenly remembered, he hoisted me up, aiming me at the basement.
"And this dog, too.
"Vivian, I'm going to make sure you learn that breaking up isn't something you can just toss out whenever you want.
"While you're locked up, this dog is going to starve right along with you."
Wait, what? I was going to starve too?
