Chapter 1
Help! Someone save me! What was I supposed to do now that I had turned into a dog?
After making a dozen fake accounts, I finally grabbed a beta invite for StorySync Inc.'s new service.
I picked an old-school drama novel, ready to play the heroine's bestie and give that loser male lead a taste of his own medicine. But just as I was about to jump in, the system popped up.
[Oh no, Boss! The system's still in early testing, so there's a little bug.]
[Your character got a bit mixed up.]
I frowned. "Don't tell me I'm the evil sidekick now? Whatever, I can still mess with that jerk."
[Nope, you're actually the heroine's puppy.]
I smirked and wrote a rant for the system.
The system freaked out. [Wait! I managed to get you a bonus!]
"What kind of bonus? Can I turn into a dog monster and go wild with the heroine?"
[You can pick your own breed.]
I hit send on my rant and instantly chose Beagle without a second thought.

The first thing I saw after landing in this drama world was the inside of a pet store cage.
The plot was hitting a major turning point.
Vivian Sterling was burning up with a fever, but Alexander Frost had brought Sabrina Chase, the queen of fake innocence, home for the night.
After a huge fight, Alexander tried to smooth things over by suggesting they get a puppy.
Vivian adored animals, and at this point, she still hadn't lost hope in Alexander.
They walked into the pet store, and the clerk greeted them with a warm smile.
"Welcome! Are you two here to pick out a pet to take home?"
"Yeah," Alexander said, wrapping his arm around Vivian's shoulders. "She loves puppies."
Vivian wandered around the store for a while, then finally pointed at a Bichon Frise wagging its tail at them.
The clerk was about to take the Bichon out of its cage when, out of nowhere, Vivian's hand slid mysteriously to the right.
She ended up pointing at me, the Beagle next door, yawning in boredom.
Wow, the system's power really knew no bounds.
Vivian was over the moon as she brought me home to her and Alexander's place, then dumped a whole pile of random stuff in front of me.
"Hey! I'm gonna name you based on whatever you pick from this pile," she said.
I stared at the basket of random stuff in front of me.
There was a lint roller, scissors, headphones, even a charger—seriously, every random thing one could think of was in there.
I pushed all the other stuff aside and made a beeline for the dictionary sitting in the corner.
"So, should I call you Dictionary?" Vivian asked.
But I wasn't done yet. I flipped open the dictionary and pointed at a word.
Vivian looked at me, surprised. "The?"
I pointed at another word.
Vivian's lips twitched. "Great?"
I pointed at one last word.
"Evil?"
I lifted my head proudly and wagged my tail next to her.
