Chapter 3
When things were getting tense between Andrew and Olivia, one of Andrew's buddies rushed over. "Andrew, Emily wants you to come to be with her."
Andrew reached out and gently touched Olivia's scratched face. "Hey, behave yourself. Don't stir things up. Go home and get some rest. I'll swing by later." With that, he followed his friend without glancing back.
After he left, Olivia pulled out her phone and called her lawyer. "Derrick, can you draft a divorce agreement for me? I want to divorce Andrew."
"Ms. Bennett, didn't you and Mr. Walker already sign your divorce papers a year ago? Legally, you two aren't together anymore," Derrick replied.
Olivia's hand froze on her phone. "What did you say? Andrew and I got divorced a year ago?"
"Yeah, he married a girl named Emily Carter. Didn't you know? As soon as she turned eighteen, they went straight to get their marriage license," Derrick said.
'So Andrew and Emily's marriage certificate is real,' Olivia thought, her blood turned to ice. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, a nurse rushed over.
"Dr. Bennett, Mr. Harvey wants to see you. Looks like he's about to fire you. You should hurry over," the nurse said.

"Dr. Bennett, a patient accused you of assault, and the video has gone viral online. Honestly, I don't think the hospital can keep you after this," said the dean, Drew Harvey.
"Mr. Harvey, it's a misunderstanding." Olivia protested.
But Drew waved her off. "Whether it's a misunderstanding or not doesn't matter. What matters is that you have to leave the hospital. Your severance pay and salary will be in your account on time, not a cent less. You can count on that."
"Mr. Harvey, I've been working here for six years. I was supposed to get promoted to department head next month," Olivia choked out. "You know how long I've been waiting for this, and you know how much I love this job."
Seeing her cry, Drew sighed. "How about this? Apologize to that patient. Maybe she'll give you another chance."
As Olivia walked out of Drew's office, she bit down hard on her lip, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.
In one day, she lost her husband and was about to lose her job. 'Andrew is so cold-blooded. Five years of marriage, and he's ready to wreck my whole career for that other woman,' Olivia thought.
After taking a deep breath, Olivia bought a bouquet and a gift for the baby and then headed to Emily's hospital room.
When she arrived, Emily was resting. The moment Olivia came in, she jolted awake, clutching the baby protectively and eyeing her warily. "Olivia, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to apologize," Olivia said, setting the flowers and gift down, her voice humble. "I'm sorry for hitting you. Please give me one more chance. Let me stay and keep my job as a doctor.
"I promise I won't lay a hand on you again, and I won't bother Andrew anymore."
Emily snapped, "You made me go into labor early, and you think saying sorry is enough? No way."
"So what do you want from me?" Olivia asked.
"I want you out of this hospital, out of this city, and out of Andrew's life." Emily glared at her, her tone suddenly shifting. "Olivia, I've known about you for a long time. When his mom came to see me, I already knew you existed.
"She told me Andrew had already divorced you, but I checked. It turns out you two were never divorced. Not that it mattered to me, because I always knew this day would come sooner or later."
Emily stroked her son's cheek with a smug smile. "Look at me now. Aren't I the real winner? I'm the real Mrs. Walker. And you? You're nothing."
Olivia knew there was no point in talking to her anymore, so she didn't bother begging.
She turned to leave, but before she could take more than a few steps, she heard Emily scream behind her.
"What the hell is this? Olivia, that's sick. How could you put a needle in the clothes you gave my baby?" Emily demanded.
"What needle?" Olivia frowned. Before she could react, Andrew and his buddies burst into the room.
"What's going on, Emily? What happened?" Andrew rushed in, seeing Emily clutching the baby, trembling all over. The baby was wailing louder, blood seeping out from his arm. "Why is the baby bleeding? Who hurt him?" he demanded.
"I don't know." Emily shook her head, choking back tears. "I have no idea why your ex-wife would do something so awful.
"She acted like she was here to apologize, asked me not to file a complaint, and brought clothes for the baby. I let my guard down and decided to try them on him. I never thought there'd be a needle hidden inside.
"Andrew, she's terrifying. I can't stay here anymore. I want to leave the hospital. I'm scared she'll kill my baby."
"Oh my god, how could this happen?"
"Aren't you a doctor, Olivia? How could you do something so messed up?"
"He's a newborn. How could you be so heartless?"
Suddenly, everyone turned on Olivia.
She tried to explain, but Andrew grabbed her wrist in a tight grip. "You did this. How could you do something so cruel to a baby? Olivia, I never thought you'd stoop so low. I'm beyond disappointed in you."
Before she could say another word, he slapped her right across the face. The slap rang out, loud and clear.
