Chapter 4
The hospital room was so quiet that the only sound was the baby's cries.
Olivia covered her face, then slowly looked up at Andrew and gave a bitter smile. "You think I did this? Is that how you see me, Andrew?
"I'm an obstetrician. I adore children. Why would I do something so cruel as hiding needles in a baby's clothes?"
"Because you're jealous. You're resentful." Andrew glared at her, his tone harsh. "I'm telling you. Firing you was my decision. It had nothing to do with Emily. Get out of this hospital right now, or I'll make sure you never set foot in medicine again."
The sweet memories from before overlapped with the harsh words he was saying now.
He had once said, "I know how much you love being a doctor, babe. Don't worry. As your husband, I will always have your back. You're an angel, always welcoming new babies into the world. To me, you're the most wonderful and caring person ever."
Olivia's heart finally broke. "If you think I'm guilty, then so be it. What are you going to do? Turn me in to the police?"
Andrew's expression was icy. "Resign right now, and Emily won't pursue this any further."
"Alright, I'll resign." Olivia walked out of the hospital room, but their voices still echoed behind her.
"Olivia went too far, Andrew. Are you going to forgive her?" Emily asked.
"Having her resign is already a pretty serious punishment. I know she was supposed to become head of department next month. What a shame," Andrew replied.
'So Andrew knew I was about to be promoted to department head, but he still forced me to quit,' Olivia thought.
"Andrew, are you feeling sorry for her? If you are, I can walk away. Don't worry. The baby and I will never be your burden," Emily said.
"Don't be ridiculous. You're my wife. She's nobody to me," Andrew replied.
'Nobody to him? After five years together, I'm nobody,' Olivia thought. Only now did she realize that all her years of devotion were wasted.
"Olivia." Drew suddenly appeared in the hallway, blocking her way. "How did it go? Did you get everything sorted out?"
"Don't worry, Mr. Harvey. I won't make things difficult for you. I'll resign right away," Olivia replied.
"Olivia, you're a real talent. The hospital has a medical mission to Arosia coming up. You'd be there for five years, but when you come back, you can still be department head. Would you be interested?" Drew asked.
Olivia's eyes lit up. "Really, Mr. Harvey?"
"Yeah, they're short on obstetricians over there, especially someone as good as you. But you'd have to leave in three days. Is that okay for you?" Drew replied.
"I'd love to go. Thank you for giving me this chance," Olivia said.
She had already divorced Andrew anyway. This hospital was no longer a place for her to stay. Going to Arosia for aid work was definitely her best choice.

The first thing Olivia did when she got home was look for her divorce papers with Andrew.
He'd stashed them in the cabinet in his study, right alongside his marriage license to Emily.
Pulling them both out, Olivia felt the irony hit her hard, and it was almost laughable.
After putting the divorce papers away, she started packing her things.
Halfway through, Andrew walked in. "What are you doing?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Olivia said, still packing. "I'm getting ready to move out."
"Don't be ridiculous. Where are you moving to?" Andrew slammed the suitcase shut, guilt flickering across his face. "I know I shouldn't have hit you today, but you went too far. That's my son.
"If you wanted to hurt him, did you stop to think about me?"
Olivia looked up at him. "Are you done? I've already resigned. What else do you want from me?"
"Can we stop fighting? Stay home and rest. Be my wife," Andrew said.
"Your wife?" Olivia couldn't help but wonder, 'Am I still your wife?'
But she couldn't be bothered to expose him. "I want to take a break, so in three days, I'm heading out for a trip to clear my mind."
Andrew let out a sigh of relief. "Planning a trip? Let me come with you."
Olivia shot back, "Are you going to leave your newborn son behind? Won't Emily mind?"
Andrew hesitated. "Sorry, I'll go with you next time."
"Mr. Walker, Ms. Carter's room is ready. She's asking for you," a maid said.
Olivia froze. "You brought Emily back?"
"Olivia." Andrew pulled her into his arms, his voice gentle. "Emily's still young. She doesn't know what she's doing.
"The baby's so tiny. With your experience as an obstetrician, you know how to take care of newborns. Now that you're home and have some free time, would you mind helping out with the baby?
"Emily's got a lot going on as she prepares to go back to school, so she doesn't have time to handle everything."
The scent of him was all too familiar, but now it made Olivia's stomach turn. She shoved him away, her gaze icy. "Aren't you afraid I'll hurt the baby again?"
"You wouldn't do that, Olivia. Don't be so heartless. If you care about me, you should care about my child too. I'm sure you'll do your best to look after the baby and Emily," Andrew said.
Olivia wanted to tell him she didn't care about him anymore. "But I'm leaving for a trip in three days. My ticket's already booked," she said.
"Then take care of them for three days. After that, I'll hire a maternity nanny to look after them," Andrew replied.
"Fine." Olivia knew Andrew too well. If she tried to go head-to-head with him, she'd never get out. She had to put up with it for three more days, and then she'd finally be free.

The next morning, Olivia woke up drenched in ice-cold water. The freezing shock sent shivers right through her.
She barely managed to open her eyes, only to see Emily standing over her, her face twisted with rage, clutching the basin she'd used.
Andrew was right beside her, shooting Olivia a look like she was the worst villain alive.
"What are you two doing?" Olivia snapped.
