Chapter 2
Just then, Melissa noticed the growing crowd.
She looked at Lucas nervously. "Honey, what's going on? Why does it feel like everyone is staring at us? And aren't there way more people than there should be at your company's annual meeting?"
Lucas glanced outside and shrugged, completely unconcerned. "Don't worry about it. It's nothing. I saw some reporters earlier. My wife probably turned the annual meeting into a press conference. Reporters or not, it doesn't matter."
He said with a smirk, "The door's locked, and the one-way mirror is on. No one can see what we're doing. If anything, that just makes it more exciting,"
Melissa's cheeks turned red as she snuggled into his arms.
"This is way too crazy," she said, lightly hitting his chest. "There's a whole crowd outside, and we're in here. And those reporters have cameras. What if this is being broadcast somewhere? Just thinking about it makes my heart race."
As soon as they finished speaking, the reporters outside grew more agitated. Voices rose louder and louder.
Of course, I had planted a few people in the crowd to stir things up.
"Are they treating us like we're part of some show? What is this?"
"But it looks like they don't even realize what's happening."
"Maybe the one-way glass and the SOS system malfunctioned. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to see or hear any of this."
"Honestly, Tina is the one who got the worst of it. She's his wife."
The reporters immediately turned their cameras toward me, ready to start asking questions.
But before they could speak, the two inside seemed to finally realize something was wrong.
Melissa was still in Lucas' arms. She pointed at me outside with a teasing smile. "Lucas, look at your wife. Working so hard out there. Don't you feel a little bad? She's out there running everything, and we're in here messing around."
Lucas let out a cold laugh. "My wife? She's just a fool. When I proposed, she actually thought it was because of love? My parents and I only chose her for her abilities, so she could run the company," he said.
"I've never had any feelings for her. The only one I care about is you."
After that, he playfully touched Melissa's nose.
Melissa giggled. "You're terrible." She playfully punched his chest.
Things between them got even cozier.
Standing outside, I let out a cold smile. I had already vented my anger last night. Now, I just wanted to watch how this would end.
When the cameras turned toward me, I immediately covered my mouth, my voice trembling. "Oh, my God... What's happening? My husband... Lucas betrayed me... I can't believe it."
The reporters quickly reacted, showing sympathy and directing their anger at Lucas.
Everything was under my control.
Just then, a reporter suddenly shouted, "Geez, would you look at them? I thought they were just flirting, but this? This is way too much! Lucas' image as a devoted husband is completely ruined!"
Inside, Lucas and Melissa were still caught up in the moment, completely unaware of the crowd outside.
As Melissa unbuttoned his shirt, she suddenly felt that something wasn't right. She glanced back.
Through the glass, she saw the crowd gathered outside. Her expression changed. "Honey... what's going on? Why are they all standing there again, and why are the cameras pointed at us?"
She hesitated, her voice shaking slightly. "Even if they can't see us... do you think they can hear us?"
Lucas chuckled, sounding completely smug. "Don't overthink it," he said confidently. "The soundproofing in this glass restroom is excellent. No matter what we say in here, no one outside can hear a thing."
He added, "As for those cameras, that was probably my idiot wife's idea. She must have told them to film the restrooms Carter Jewelry donated, just so the Carter family can show off how responsible we are."
Melissa placed her hand on his neck, her touch lingering. Her fingers traced lightly back and forth as she smiled.
"Your wife really is devoted to you. But when I think about how she works so hard to make money for you, and you spend it all on me, I almost feel a little guilty."
Lucas kissed her on the lips, a smug smile on his face. "Melissa, you're my childhood sweetheart. What's there to feel guilty about? Just enjoy it. Spend whatever she earns."
After that, Lucas and Melissa went right back to each other, completely ignoring everything outside. They pulled close again, as if nothing could interrupt them.
Outside the glass restroom, reporters kept their cameras fixed on the scene, filming nonstop.
