Chapter 1
My wedding was just around the corner when my fiancé, Edward Foster, suddenly got into a car accident and lost his memory.
He remembered everyone except me.
He took one girl after another to all the places we used to go and showed them deep affection. "Pretending to have amnesia has been the happiest time of my life.
"Once I've had my fun, I'll go back to Jules and love her properly."
I followed them quietly, never screaming or demanding answers.
When I got home, I grabbed another man's tie. "Mike, your nephew is trash. How about you take his place in this marriage alliance?"

Michael Foster looked down, his long fingers resting on my hand. "Do you know what you're saying?"
I nodded, my eyes red, as hatred and the thrill of revenge raged inside me.
Michael's hand slowly tightened, his gaze fixed on me with an intense, possessive stare.
Watching his Adam's apple bob, I kissed him without another word.
That night, a wild and frantic passion vented most of my anger. I fell into a deep sleep curled in Michael's arms.
The next morning, a harsh ringtone woke me.
Edward's voice was ice-cold, punctuated by soft, delicate moans from someone beside him. "Julia, what else did we do together? Once I've overwritten all these memories, you'll stop bothering me, right?"
Suppressing the ache in my heart, I said flatly, "Bungee jumping, scuba diving, backcountry skiing, skydiving."
As soon as the words left my mouth, a light chuckle came from behind me.
Edward heard it and instantly exploded. "Julia, is this what you call loving me? It's 8 AM. Who's with you? You wait right there!"
Then he hung up.
I turned to look at Michael. "Did you do that on purpose?"
"No," he said, "It's just that Edward wouldn't dare try any of those activities."
I fell silent.
He was right.
I was the one who loved those extreme sports.
Every time I'd asked him to join me, he'd refused.
Most of our dates were pretty boring.
Shopping, movies, traveling the world.
That's why he could so easily take another woman to overwrite the memories of our love.
Michael made no attempt to hide himself, dressing slowly and deliberately in front of me.
He kissed my cheek. "You have three days to sort things out with Edward. We're getting married in a week."
I nodded in agreement.
Michael left, and not long after, Edward stormed through the front door.
He charged in and started opening every closet and cupboard, like a lion inspecting its territory.
"Julia, have you no shame? One minute you're saying you love me, the next you're finding some other guy!" he shouted.
I tugged at my high-neck sweater and let out a self-mocking laugh.
For the past two weeks, Edward had refused to speak to me or even set foot in this house.
Now he was panicking because he heard another man's voice on the phone.
He stormed up to me, his eyes fierce. "Talk! Where are you hiding him?"
I raised an eyebrow and looked up at him. "You looked around yourself. Do you see any other man?"
"You're bringing some woman here to confront me, don't you think that's ridiculous?" I asked.
I was shocked.
I turned to look the woman over, my gaze unconsciously drawn to the vintage-looking necklace around her neck.
It was the most precious necklace from Edward's mother's trousseau.
Edward had once taken it out, stroking it lovingly several times.
He once told me, "This is what my mom left for her future daughter-in-law. You'll wear it when you marry me."
Now, it was around another woman's neck.
Edward sat on the couch, pulling the woman into his arms, his eyes full of tenderness. "This is my girlfriend, Molly. I brought her here to tell you to give up. I am absolutely not marrying you!"
He said it.
A slight pang hit my heart.
I'd been with Edward for six years. He'd doted on me, spoiled me rotten, and made me feel fearless.
I'd once asked him what if he spoiled me too much?
He'd laughed, held me close, his eyes filled with love. "Then I'll spoil you even more. I'll spoil you so much you become reckless, so you won't even look at anyone else. That way, you'll stay by my side forever."
Back then, he was so determined to spend his life with me.
And now, he could just as firmly say he wouldn't marry me.
The girl beside him giggled softly. "Julia, why don't you just stop pestering him? Eddie already proposed to me! It's just pathetic if you keep clinging to him."
She held out her hand, showing off a huge diamond ring on her ring finger.
If this had been the old me, I probably would have lost it, begging Edward pathetically not to treat me this way.
But now, I just found it ridiculous.
I reached out, took the ring off Molly's finger, and looked inside the band. It was engraved with mine and Edward's names.
"Edward, how could you use the engagement ring you designed with your ex-fiancée to propose to someone else?" I said, my voice flat.
I tossed the ring into the trash can and said calmly, "Perfect. I don't want to marry you either."
