Chapter 2
The doctor standing nearby looked a bit awkward and said, "He took a pretty bad hit to the head. Looks like he's lost his memory, and now he's got the mind of a seven or eight-year-old."
"So what should we do now?" I asked.
The doctor and I just stared at each other. I ended up bringing him home.
He didn't have any ID on him, so I didn't know who he was.
I thought if he got his memory back or remembered his parents' number, I'd send him on his way.
Of course, during this time, he'd have to do all the chores for me.
Pretty sure I couldn't just employ child labor. Did it count if his IQ was only eight?
I lounged back with my legs crossed and ordered David, "Wash a bunch of grapes for me."
David obediently washed the grapes and brought them to me.
I opened my mouth without taking my eyes off my phone.
He gently placed a sweet grape into my mouth.
I reached out to ruffle his soft locks and said, "Good boy."
Why did this feel so much like I had suddenly gotten a son?
Lying down, I said, "Give my shoulders a rub."
He was quiet for a moment behind me.
Then two hands put on my shoulders, pressing just right, gently kneading and rubbing.
It was like a jolt of electricity, a shiver shot straight up to my head.
"Alright, that's enough. Stop it!" I said.
I sprang to my feet, pulling away from his hands.
His hands were unmistakably those of an adult, warm and broad.
I couldn't help but blush.
"Did I do it wrong?" David asked as his head drooped with disappointment.
He was kneeling there on the carpet. This tall, grown man suddenly looked so fragile that his usually aloof, handsome face was now soft and vulnerable.
For a second, I felt this weird, almost twisted urge to bully him.
Wait, what kind of messed-up thoughts was I having?
I slapped myself.
I said to him, "You did a good job. I'm not tired now. You'll sleep here."
My couch was too small. His legs would hang right off the edge.
With my measly monthly salary, I could only afford a one-bedroom place.
After a moment's thought, I set up a spot for him right next to my bed on the floor.
I handed him a towel and said, "Go to the bathroom and clean yourself up."
Wait, he didn't seem to have any clothes to change into.
I searched for a long time and finally dug out a T-shirt my brother had left behind, plus a pair of shorts that were way too big for me.
I handed him the clothes and said, "No underwear, so just make do. Tomorrow I'll buy you some."
David stood there, frozen in place.
I said, hands on my hips, "Seriously? You don't even know how to take a shower?"
He blinked, walked over, and wrapped his arms around me. "Honey, I want you to shower me," he said.
His warm breath brushed against my ear. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I pushed him away. "I told you not to call me that shit!" I snapped.
David looked startled, blinking back tears, his lashes fluttering as he mumbled pitifully, "Honey."
My heart clenched. I closed my eyes and sighed, saying, "Fine, call me whatever you want."
He didn't know anything anyway.
I pushed him away and said, "Go wash yourself."
I pointed out the bathroom to him and continued, "This one's the body wash, and that's the shampoo."
Then I closed the door and walked out.
When I was lying on the bed, my heart was still racing.
Seriously, who could handle a gorgeous guy clinging to you and calling you "honey" like that?
Just as I lay down, barely a few minutes had passed. Suddenly, I heard a startled shout from the bathroom.
With a loud thud, the door burst open.
Next thing I knew, David, bare-skinned and panicked, came sprinting out, jumped straight onto my bed, and snuggled into my arms.
He cried, "Honey, there's a bug!"
I looked down, completely stunned.
I found that he was wearing nothing.
Droplets of water traced down his toned skin, slipping into every line and curve.
My face instantly went up in flames. What did I just see?
My brain exploded like a firework show, sparks flying everywhere.
I jerked my head up and closed my eyes.
I told myself I should calm down. Nothing happened, I saw nothing.
Just a blur of white, that was all.
David just snuggled into my arms, clutching my waist, trembling all over.
Damn, he was a grown man. Seriously, a full-grown man!
I had been single for over twenty years, never even touched a guy's hand, let alone anything else.
And now, I got hit with something this spicy.
Who knew he was packing such a killer body?
I swallowed hard and said, "Put on your clothes first."
If he didn't, my nosebleed was about to go full blast.
David buried himself against my waist, shaking his head like a stubborn kid. "You help me put them on," he replied.
Unbelievable, he was really milking it now.
I gave in, turned around, and helped him into his pajamas.
Suddenly, David softly took a couple of sniffs at my neck.
