Chapter 1
Before the mission, I asked Myron Garcia one last time, "Will you kill me?"
He was silent for a moment, then said, "No."
Both the system and I felt a jolt of dread. This was bad.
If only Myron had killed me, my mission would have been over.
What was I supposed to do now that he had fallen in love with me?
As it turned out, all the worry was for nothing.
On the final mission, he shot me dead with his own hands to save his first love, Daniela Cox.
He did it because he knew the system would bring me back to life.
Myron stayed with Daniela for three days before he thought of me.
What he found then was my body, already decaying.

Sitting on the rooftop, I reached out, trying to touch the stars.
But before I could reach any farther, the system's surprised voice echoed in my ear.
"Host, don't do anything stupid. We have worked so hard, and we are almost there. You can't kill yourself now," it said.
I twitched the corner of my mouth.
"What are you talking about? I just came up here for some fresh air. I am not that fragile," I said.
Honestly, the view from the rooftop was pretty nice.
I had a perfect view of my fiancé hugging another woman tightly.
Daniela's eyes were full of sorrow.
"Forget about me. Our relationship can't see the light of day, and it will never end well," she said.
Myron comforted her in a gentle voice I had never heard from him before.
"I'll handle everything. Just give me a little more time," he said.
This time, Daniela refused to give in.
"Myron, I'm almost thirty. How much longer am I supposed to waste my time on you?" she said.
Myron opened his mouth as if to say something.
But Daniela cut him off with a wave of her hand.
"I've agreed to the blind date my mom set up for me. Myron, please let me go," she said.
Myron crushed his cigarette irritably.
"Daniela, stop being ridiculous, okay?" he said.
But Daniela sneered and turned to leave.
I watched Myron's lonely back and shook my head.
"See? That's the price you pay for having an affair," I said.
The system reminded me, "Host, you two aren't even married yet."
I rolled my eyes.
"You don't know shit. If I go down there and provoke him now, he might stab me in a fit of anger," I said.
The system said, "That is a brilliant plan."
I skipped down the stairs, and sure enough, there was Myron, looking all dejected.
"Feeling down? You got dumped or something? Tell me about it. I can cheer you up," I said.
With a grin, I hooked my arm around his shoulder.
Myron stared at me, expressionless, and pushed my arm off.
"It's nothing," he said.
He was way too calm. It wouldn't work like this.
I grew anxious.
"Come on. I saw everything from upstairs. Getting dumped is not the end of the world. It's just—" Before I could finish, he reached out and grabbed my neck roughly.
Myron looked like a demon who had crawled up from hell.
He growled, "You were following me?
"Have I been too nice to you lately that you have forgotten your place?"
Seeing the murderous glint in his eyes, I couldn't help but smirk.
Yeah, that was it. Hurry up and strangle me. I wanted to go home.
I shot back, "Yeah, I was following you. So what? You did something shameless, and you're afraid people will find out?
"No wonder she dumped you. A guy who wants his cake and eats it too? Even I wouldn't want someone like you."
Afraid he'd go soft on me, I doubled down, doing everything I could to push him over the edge.
Myron's grip kept tightening, his eyes going bloodshot with fury.
To be honest, the feeling of dying was not pleasant.
But I was finally about to get out of here and end this humiliating experience.
But in the very next moment, Myron released his grip on me.
I fell to the ground and coughed violently.
"This was my fault. I'll keep my distance from her from now on," Myron said.
What?
I looked at him in disbelief.
But all he left me with was his cold figure as he walked away.
"System, what does that even mean?" I asked.
The system was clearly shocked.
"He let you go? No way. That villain who treats women like disposable toys actually spared you?" it said.
I rolled my eyes so hard I almost hurt myself.
But there was nothing I could do about it.
