The noise coming from the phone kept getting louder. There was the clatter of footsteps and the sound of things being bumped around.

"What are you doing? Put down my pot. That's brand new." Laura screamed.

"Lady, move aside. We're dismantling this cabinet," one of the workers said gruffly.

"Lucas, are you going to stand there and let them push your mom around?" Laura shouted.

Lucas was panting heavily. "Don't touch anything. I'm calling my wife. There's gotta be some mistake," he yelled.

I answered the call and turned off the speaker on Mabel's end.
