I was making 20 thousand a month, and my husband's mom, Laura Harrison, was green with envy. She demanded, as if it were her right, that I hand over 15 thousand dollars every month. "Women get out of control when they have too much money. I'll save it for you," Laura said. I let out a cold laugh and shot her down without hesitation. But when I got home from work, I couldn't get my key in the lock. The door was locked from the inside. Laura was taunting me from behind the door. "Hand over your bank card, and then you can come back in," she shouted. "Until then, freeze in the hallway." I didn't shed a tear or throw a tantrum. I wheeled my suitcase around and booked myself into a five-star hotel. Ten days later, Laura was sprawled out on the couch. Then, the real estate agent walked in with a spare key, bringing a family of five to check out the place. The whole Harrison family was stunned. She yelled, "What are you doing here?" The agent smiled and said, "The owner has already sold this place in a quick sale at a bargain price. Please move out by today."
