"I'll get you out of here and take you to the hospital," the girl said.

Remembering what my coworker had mentioned, I looked at her in surprise and asked, "Aren't you afraid Mandy will find out? She might get you fired."

She helped me up and opened the first aid kit, carefully bandaging my wounds.

Her hands were shaking, but her voice stayed firm.

"I was scared at first," she said. "But after seeing what Mandy did to you, I got worried she'd eventually do the same to me.
