Chapter 4
Chapter 4: The Dream Behind The Lock
Sabrina stood outside Alpha George's locked study, holding a small toolbox in her hand. After seeing Mia Wales with the precious jewelry piece from George's desk, she could no longer ignore the feeling that something important was hidden inside.
Her inner wolf, Amira, stirred beneath her skin, sensing something unusual behind the door. Open it, Sabrina. I can feel something that belongs to us.
Sabrina glanced down the empty hallway before kneeling beside the lock. "Then let's find out what George has been hiding from his mate," she whispered, her eyes turning cold as she worked on the lock.
Her fingers moved quickly, and after several careful turns, the lock clicked open. Sabrina pushed the door inward and stepped into the dark study, immediately smelling old paper and dust.
Heavy curtains covered the windows, and tall cabinets stood against the walls. Sabrina walked farther into the study and looked around carefully. "What are you hiding in here, George?" she asked softly, her voice filled with suspicion as Amira remained alert inside her.
Search the room, Amira urged, her wolf senses reaching into every dark corner.
Sabrina opened several cabinets, finding old pack records, business papers, and documents that had nothing to do with her. Then she noticed a smaller wooden cabinet standing alone in the darkest corner.
Unlike the others, this cabinet had a lock.
Sabrina crouched down. "Why would you lock this?" she murmured, studying the old lock before taking out another small tool.
A few seconds later, the lock opened with a soft click. Sabrina pulled the cabinet door wide, and her eyes widened when she saw stacks of old papers, notebooks, and drawings carefully kept inside.
She slowly reached in and pulled out the first sketch. Her breath caught when she saw a beautiful jewelry design covering the page.
She pulled out another sketch, then another, until the table was covered with her old designs. Every line, curve, and small detail was familiar.
Sabrina's fingers trembled as she touched one of the drawings. "These are mine," she whispered, her voice breaking as memories from her younger years returned.
She turned one page over and saw the signature written neatly in the corner.
Sasha Jones.
Sabrina froze as she stared at the name. Her fingertip slowly followed each letter, and her eyes filled with tears.
"Sasha Jones," she whispered. "That was the name I used for my designs."
And you are still Sasha Jones, Amira answered gently.
Before becoming the Luna of Crimson Shadow Pack, Sabrina had dreamed of becoming a famous jewelry designer. Sasha Jones was the secret name behind the beautiful designs she created when she was young.
She had worked hard for those dreams, washing dishes in restaurants and drawing portraits for strangers to save money for paper, tools, and precious stones.
Those designs were her dreams, her hope, and the future she wanted to build.
Then her father's gambling debts became impossible to control.
Loan sharks began threatening her family, and Sabrina had been desperate for a way to protect them. That was when Alpha George offered to pay the debts and keep her family safe.
But his help came with a price.
Marriage.
Sabrina became George's mate and fiancé, agreeing to stand beside him as the Luna of Crimson Shadow Pack. In return, she was expected to leave her studies, stop chasing her dreams, and become the quiet Luna he wanted.
Now, looking at the old drawings, Sabrina felt the pain of those years return. "You kept them here all this time," she said, her voice shaking. "You knew exactly where my dreams were."
She picked up another sketch, remembering the young woman who had created it despite being poor and frightened.
Then Sabrina saw one particular design.
She stopped breathing.
It was a delicate ring with an elegant flower shape, blue diamonds set around its fine details, and a rare blood ruby shining at the center.
Her heart began pounding.
"That design…" Sabrina whispered as she lifted the sketch closer. "I remember this."
It is yours, Amira said firmly.
Sabrina remembered Mia's livestream, the jewelry case on George's desk, and the comments claiming George was going to propose.
She stared at the sketch with disbelief. "The ring George is using to please Mia was designed by me."
Her voice shook as anger rose inside her. "He took my masterpiece and gave it to another woman."
He took something precious from you and used it to make Mia happy, Amira growled.
Sabrina's fingers tightened around the drawing. She remembered creating the design years ago, carefully placing every stone and changing the shape again and again until she was satisfied.
The piece had been one of the designs she had dreamed of showing under her secret name, Sasha Jones.
Instead, her dream had been locked away.
And now George was using it.
"Did he even know?" Sabrina asked bitterly, staring at the sketch. "Did George know the woman he forced to abandon her dream created this?"
She swallowed her pain and continued, "Did he know that the jewelry he is using to impress Mia came from his own mate?"
Sabrina finally understood why these drawings hurt so much. George had not simply locked away old papers; he had locked away a part of her.
Her dreams had been buried in darkness while she spent years pretending she was satisfied with being his quiet Luna.
Sabrina wiped the tears from her cheek and slowly straightened her back. "I gave up my studies for this marriage," she said, gathering the sketches. "I gave up my work, my name, and the future I wanted because I believed I owed him everything."
Her eyes hardened as she looked at the signature on the papers. "But I do not owe him anything anymore."
Take back your name, Amira said proudly.
Sabrina held the designs close and looked at the ring sketch. "Fine, George," she whispered, her voice calm despite the anger burning inside her. "You made your choice."
She walked toward the study door, carrying the dreams she had abandoned. "You thought you could bury Sasha Jones forever, but you were wrong."
At the doorway, a cold smile slowly appeared on her lips.
"A wolf can survive the darkness," she said quietly, her eyes shining with new determination. "And when she comes out, she remembers who put her there."
Amira gave a fierce growl inside her. Let them believe they have won.
Sabrina closed the study door behind her and walked down the hallway. She was still Sabrina Johnson, the Luna of Crimson Shadow Pack, but the part of her that George had forced into silence was finally awake.
She was Sasha Jones, the secret jewelry designer whose talent had never disappeared.
Sabrina looked down at the sketches in her arms and tightened her hold on them. "If George and Mia want to play this game," she whispered, her expression turning cold, "then she will play it to the bitter end."
The woman who entered the study carrying pain walked away carrying her dream instead.
And this time, Sabrina would never bury it again.
