Chapter 1
"Ada Porter, Grace Porter needs your kidney, so why don't you give her one?" Mary Porter said.
In the living room, Mary, elegantly dressed, held a cup of coffee, and her tone was so casual as if she were talking about the weather.
Instantly, Ada's face became as white as a sheet. "Mom, I am also your daughter..."
"Shut up. Grace has been sick since she was little. As her elder sister, shouldn't you do something for her health?" Mary said sternly.
Ada murmured, "I..."
"Besides, we raise you. It is time for you to repay us," Mary emphasized.
Holding a plate of fruit, I, Summer Tiller, walked into the living room. My hands shook after I heard Mary.
I thought, 'Look, she began a guilt trip. She does raise Ada, but with two hundred dollars per month. The food for Grace's dog costs much more than that. How shameless she is to mention that!
'Why doesn't she ask for Ada's bone marrow, kidney, and corneas in return? In this way, Ada can become a saint.'
I was just a maid in the Porter family, so I could do nothing but despise Mary inwardly.
Right then, a robotic voice rang out in my mind, [Ding! Your urge to roast has been detected. The Mission, Protection for Ada, begins. You will be rewarded 300 thousand dollars if you say in public what you really think.]
Instantly, my eyes popped out of my head.
I looked at Ada who was cornered and had tears welling in her eyes.
Then, I shifted my gaze to the others who were aloof and arrogant.
'Three hundred thousand dollars! I won't miss my shot,' I thought.

I placed the plate of fruit on the coffee table with a clink.
Instantly, I became the center of attention.
With knitted eyebrows, Mary unhappily gazed at me and complained, "Summer, what is wrong with you? You scared Grace."
I forced a professional smile. "Sorry, Mrs. Porter. My hand slipped."
'My hand slipped. What a joke! If I didn't make a noise, you would have eaten Ada alive,' I thought.
The system: [Ding! Please say in public what you really think. Ten seconds on the clock. Ten, nine...]
I took a deep breath and then looked Mary in the eyes.
"Mrs. Porter, you said that you raised Miss Ada and that it was time for her to repay you, didn't you?" I asked.
Mary frowned more deeply as if she were offended. "Do you have a say here?"
"Of course not." My smile became brighter. "I wonder why you sounded proud. You give her 200 dollars per month as her living expenses, while you could have spent one million dollars on Miss Grace's birthday gift, a sports car.
"Miss Ada buys her clothes in the promotions, while Miss Grace casually spends sixty thousand dollars on a bag.
"Even the food of Miss Grace's dog is airlifted from abroad. You spend much more money on a dog than on Miss Ada. That's how you raise her."
I paused, and my eyes swept over the people who were in shock. "You don't raise her. To be precise, you give to charity, not generously."
The system: [Ding! Your speech caused intense mood swings. 300 thousand dollars has been transferred to your bank account.]
Soon, my phone buzzed, and I glanced at the new message on it.
The bank: [Your account ending in 8888 has received a transfer of three hundred thousand dollars.]
'It's real!' I thought. Wild with joy, I managed to appear calm.
Silence pervaded in the living room.
Mary's face turned pale as if it had been slapped several times.
Red-eyed, Grace, the adoptive daughter of the Porter family and the apple of their eyes, feebly leaned against Mary.
"Summer... How can you say that to Mom? Mom is good to Ada, but Ada... Ada is frugal," Grace argued.
'Well, the angelic bitch is up to her old tricks. Frugal? Ada is forced to be frugal. Who would be frugal if one had sufficient money?' I thought.
The system: [Ding! What a good point! Keep going, Host.]
I didn't bother to play innocent with Grace.
"Miss Grace, you said that Miss Ada is frugal. Wasn't she rushed to the hospital for malnutrition? Was she too frugal to buy herself some food?" I asked.
Instantly, Grace's face turned pale.
That incident was a taboo of the Porter family, and nobody dared to mention it.
Mary slammed the table and then pointed at my nose with one finger. "How dare you, Summer! You are fired. Get lost. Right away."
I shrugged. "Fine." With 300 thousand dollars in my bank account, I didn't want to work for a bunch of freaks anymore.
I turned around to leave.
However, Ada, who kept her mouth shut for a long time, tugged at my sleeve suddenly.
She looked at me, and I saw a glimmer of light in her dull eyes for the first time in my life. "Don't leave me," she pleaded.
'I beg your pardon,' I thought. Shock rooted me to the spot.
Right then, the robotic voice rang out in my mind again, [Ding! Help Ada. Stay in the Porter family, help Ada out, and assist her in getting what belongs to her.
[Each small victory leads to a better reward, and the ultimate reward will be amazing. I would like to warn you that your mission will fail once you get fired. If that happened, your connection with me would end.]
'Damn! What a stroke of luck!' I thought.
I stopped in my tracks, turned around, and flashed a standard smile at Mary.
"I am afraid that I can't leave, Mrs. Porter. I signed the contract, and it hasn't expired yet. You will have to give me double wages if you dismiss me now. That will be six thousand dollars in total," I explained.
Mary shuddered with rage. "You... How dare you ask for money!"
"Why can't I?" I asked firmly. "There is the law."
'I just want to get what I deserve. Besides, who will make things difficult for the vain if I leave?' I thought.
"Six thousand dollars? Isn't it a beggar's offering?" A voice of contempt came from the top of the stairs.
