Felix had been waiting all evening. Waiting for me, or maybe for my call. He thought that if I reached out again, he would graciously answer. Even if I cried and begged, he would endure it. But there was nothing. It felt like a balloon drifting away after losing its string, leaving him anxious and unsettled.
