Chapter 2
"Dad...Mom...I...I want to divorce Silas..."
Claire's parents were quite surprised to receive a call from Claire, who was crying uncontrollably . After all, before this call, the two were deeply in love and were a well-known model couple in their circle.
"Claire, what's wrong? Did you and Silas have a fight?"
"What happened? Why are you suddenly talking about divorce? Why are you crying like this? Say something! Are you trying to worry your parents to death?"
Claire’s parents spoke one after another, and even though Claire was in unbearable pain, she was now completely awake.
What Silas did to her was too cruel. If Claire told them, her parents would probably end up in the emergency room on the spot.
Not wanting her parents to worry, she could only hide all her pain and tears, trying her best to calm herself down. "I will explain the specifics to you in detail after I come to France."
"Mom and Dad, don't mention the phone call I made today to anyone, including Silas."
"I'll come and reunite with you after I finish the formalities."
Although her parents were very anxious, she had always been a very opinionated person since she was a child, so the elderly couple did not ask any more questions. They only told her to think it over carefully and that they would support her no matter what happened.
During her subsequent hospital stay, Silas returned to his usual gentle and affectionate self, taking meticulous care of her in the hospital.
His thoughtfulness is evident to all; he would buy snacks and personally feed them to her.
When he took her out for a walk in her wheelchair, he would squat down every few steps to ask if she was cold or if her wounds hurt.
Outsiders who saw this couldn't help but feel envious of Claire .
But only Claire herself knew that it was all a lie.
It turns out that loving someone can also be faked.
On the day she was discharged from the hospital, he received a phone call, saying something had come up at the company and he had to leave first.
Claire knew that the person who called was Blair.
Because only when he answered her call would he show that tender expression.
There were so many details showing how much he loved Blair, how come she never noticed it all these years?
After Silas left, Claire took a taxi to the City Hall by herself.
She handed the pre-prepared marriage certificate to the staff.
"Hello, I want to register for a divorce."
To everyone's surprise, after looking at her identification, the staff member frowned and shook his head.
"Miss, the marriage certificate you gave me is fake. If you don't want a divorce, that's fine. There's no need to make a fake certificate just to make a show of it."
Claire was stunned for a moment before she reacted, and after a long while, she finally laughed.
She laughed until tears streamed down her face.
It turns out that he wasn't willing to give her a real title either; he even arranged for a fake marriage certificate.
That's better; that way, she wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of getting a divorce.
She put away her documents, took a taxi to the embassy again, and applied for permanent residency.
The staff told her that it would take seven business days to complete all the procedures.
Seven working days...
So for the next few days, she had to pretend she knew nothing and stay at home.
When she got home, as soon as the maid opened the door, her son Leo rushed over, his little face flushed, and hugged her and kept acting cute.
"Mom, you're back! I missed you so much..."
“These days, Dad won’t let me go to the hospital to see you, and I’m so worried at home.”
"Mom, I will always be with you from now on. I'm sure you'll be able to stand up and walk again."
Looking at the child clinging to her and acting spoiled, Claire felt as if her heart was being torn apart.
She had loved him dearly for so many years, but now he was being told that he wasn't her son.
The thought of the child she had never even met before being strangled to death made her tremble with pain.
That was Silas's biological son, but he only wanted Blair's child, so he strangled it to death.
But the child who was acting spoiled in front of her was someone she had personally raised, pampered, and watched grow up day by day!
For a time, she was in unbearable pain.
Leo for Silas and Blair's mistakes .
After all, he was just a five-year-old child; he didn't know anything.
She bent down slightly and hugged Leo, but tears fell uncontrollably.
