Synopsis

At the class reunion, someone egged everyone on to get Randy Coolidge and Lisa Duffy, the campus belle, to sing a love song together. No one knew that the man being pushed onto the stage was my boyfriend of six years in a secret relationship. At every gathering, I would pick the seat farthest away from him. I ate quietly, watched him be surrounded by everyone, and quietly played along as a stranger with no connection to him. But today, he suddenly spoke in my direction. "Cut it out. My girlfriend is here," said he. The air froze for a second. All eyes turned and landed on me. The next second, someone in the corner clicked their tongue, saying, "Her? No wonder he kept it a secret." My nails dug into my palms as I gripped the strap of my backpack on my lap tightly. Only I knew he wasn't revealing our relationship now. He was punishing me for blocking his way to pick up Lisa yesterday and demanding, "You refuse to go public. Is it because of Lisa?"
