Chapter 4

He still thought I was being difficult. He grabbed my hand without thinking. His fingers pressed right against the needle in my IV.

He froze.

I cried out in pain. He let go at once. For a moment, he looked uneasy.

I gave a quiet, bitter laugh. "I don't know how long you've been sitting there, but you only just noticed I'm on an IV."

I looked at him. "Andrew, I don't know when it started, but you stopped seeing me. Or maybe you never did. I just loved you too much to notice."
