Chapter 6
William's voice was soft, but it cut through everyone like a sharp blade.
Sam looked up, and when he saw William's face, his pupils shrank in sudden shock.
"M-Mr. Clark?" Sam stammered. He clearly recognized William. "Why... why are you here?"
William didn't bother to answer. He just tilted his head toward Thomas and said, "Make sure he never shows up in Nunhill City again."
"Yes, boss," Thomas replied.
With a wave of Thomas' hand, the two bodyguards immediately stepped forward and dragged Sam roughly.
No matter how much Sam screamed or pleaded, it didn't make a difference.
Inside the private room, it was just me, William, and Dylan, who was frozen in shock like a statue.
Dylan stared at the dramatic scene, his mind totally blank.
He couldn't figure out why William would go so far as to piss off a powerful bank president all because of me, a long-lost sister.
If so, having such a great connection would be advantageous to him.
After dealing with Sam, William turned his gaze to Dylan. His eyes were venomous.
"Dylan," William said slowly, "I gave you a chance."
Dylan jerked back to reality, his legs giving out and he fell to the ground.
"Mr. Clark, I was wrong," he pleaded.
He crawled to William's feet, bawling his eyes out. "I swear, I had no idea Sophie was your sister. If I'd known, I wouldn't have dared hurt her. Please, just spare me this once."
William stared down at him from above, his eyes cold as ice.
"Spare you?" William let out a cold laugh, like he'd just heard the funniest joke. "Did you ever think about sparing my sister when you sold her off like she was merchandise?
"Did you ever think about sparing her when you sent her to those disgusting men?"
With every word William spoke, Dylan trembled even harder.
"I... I..." Dylan stammered.
William couldn't be bothered to deal with him anymore and just shot Thomas a look.
Thomas got the message and stepped forward, delivering a hard kick right to Dylan's chest.
Dylan let out a scream as he was sent flying, crashing hard into the wall and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"Mr. Pearson, Boss said he wants your family gone from Nunhill City," Thomas said, pressing his foot down on Dylan's hand, his face cold and emotionless. "You'd better just accept it."
Dylan was dragged away.
As he was taken out, he shot me a look full of pure hatred, like I was the reason his life had fallen apart.
I simply flashed him a bright smile.
This was only the start for him. I'd make sure he paid back what he owed me, and with interest.
Things went quiet in the room.
William took my hand and led me out of that toxic dump.
As we stepped out of Twilight, the cool night breeze hit us, clearing the booze from my system.
"William," I looked up at him and said softly, "thank you."
"You don't have to thank me," he said, ruffling my hair with a helpless smile. "Sophie, you're my little sister, the only family left in this world. Taking care of you is the least I can do."
Feeling a rush of warmth, I slipped my arm through his.
"Guess I'll just take advantage of you from now on," I teased.
"Exactly. No need to be formal with me," he replied.
We strolled through the late-night streets, our shadows trailing long under the soft glow of the streetlights.
For the first time ever, I felt truly at peace.
I knew that from now on, I wouldn't have to stand alone anymore.
I finally had a real home and a brother who'd shield me from every storm life threw my way.
And as for those who ever messed with me, not one of them would get away.

The Pearson family fell even faster than I ever imagined.
With William's ruthless and decisive methods, it only took three days for the Pearson Group, which once ruled Nunhill City, to declare bankruptcy and start liquidation.
Dylan's father, the chairman of Pearson Group, couldn't handle the blow. He suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage and was rushed to the ICU.
The Pearson family was finished.
The news hit Nunhill City like a bomb, sending shockwaves through the whole city's elite.
People never expected a family that had ruled for decades to collapse like a house of cards overnight.
And the mastermind behind it all was none other than William.
Suddenly, William's name became something people didn't even dare mention in Nunhill City's elite circles.
Everyone was scared stiff of him, but they still couldn't help wondering who he really was.
Of course, the one who wanted to know the most was me.
I was the woman everyone gossiped about. Dylan had tossed aside and sold me off, only for me to suddenly become William's sister.
