Chapter 3
"Why is Hassan so childish? Esteban never had a father and has heart disease. What's wrong with me celebrating his birthday?" Bradley said.
Before I could say anything more, Bradley hung up the phone.
In the end, I celebrated Hassan's birthday with him.
When I was feeling sad, words appeared before my eyes again.
[Feel sad for the supporting lead who is about to lose her child.]
[Right now, both the male and female leads are trying everything they can to arrange surgery for Esteban.]
[Yes, the longer it takes, the more worried they get.]
The hospital room was silent because no one dared to speak loudly after Bradley's actions, afraid he might lose his temper again.
"Go back!" Bradley ordered me.
I ignored him and kept standing there.
"What happened?" A familiar voice called out.
Looking up, I recognized this person, Pedro Riley, Bradley's main rival.
He was competing with Bradley for the vice president position.
If Esteban's surgery succeeded, Bradley would become vice president, and Pedro would remain a department director.
"Dr. Riley, you're just in time!" I quickly called him in.
"I want to report Bradley for misconduct. He left the donor's body in the ward, which not only violates hospital regulations but also causes severe psychological trauma to patients," I said.
Pedro looked at me with shining eyes. He finally found leverage to drag Bradley down.
"Really?" He glanced proudly at Bradley.
I nodded. "Absolutely true!"
"Just wait, I'll bring the director over right now!" Pedro said excitedly.
Now, no one dared to act recklessly.
I saw Brooke move close to Bradley, pinching the flesh at his waist repeatedly, as if urging him.
I smirked. Now she was starting to panic.
Soon, Pedro brought the director to the ward.
"Mrs. Brown, Dr. Riley has already explained the situation to me. Rest assured, the volunteer's remains must be moved out!"
Xavi Fuentes, the dean, patted his chest and assured me.
He called the nurse at the door to come in and take away the donor's body.
"No!" Brooke nervously stopped everyone.
Everyone turned to her, unable to guess what she was thinking.
But I knew exactly what was going on.
Xavi stared angrily at Bradley and said, "Dr. Brown, are you giving up on running for department head?"
Bradley was clearly stunned and forcefully pulled Brooke aside.
"What are you doing? We're only moving the donor out. Don't make trouble here!"
Bradley held Brooke back and warned her.
Brooke looked more and more anxious.
I couldn't wait any longer; I had to check for myself.
I quickly stepped forward and drew open the curtain next to the bed.
"It's Hassan! Help me, he's still alive!"
I thoroughly examined Hassan from head to toe.
Not seeing any wounds, I finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Hassan, can you hear me speaking?" Holding back tears, I gently asked Hassan.
Hassan weakly opened his eyes, "Mom..."
"I'm here, Hassan. I'm here to save you. Hold on!" I said.
With help from Pedro and Xavi, Hassan was moved into the emergency room.
As they passed Bradley, Pedro gave him a push.
[Oh my, oh my, the supporting lead's child was saved?]
[Has the story gone off script? The supporting lead's son was supposed to die after having his heart cut out.]
[The story has already deviated from the original plot. In the original, the supporting lead never rushed to the hospital at all. She simply did everything the male lead told her and was completely obsessed with him.]
Reading those words made my heart ache deeply.
What was said in the message was true. I really was obsessed with love, and I believed every word Bradley said.
But I wouldn't be like that anymore.
[Obsessed with him? I can't wait to see her face when she learns the truth.]
The truth? What more was there for me to learn? I already saved my son. Could anything else still happen?
Before I could think further, Bradley suddenly stumbled and collapsed to the ground beside me.
Brooke, who had been too afraid to speak, rushed over and shook Bradley's shoulders.
"Bradley, didn't you say you would save my son? Go and bring Hassan back!" she said.
I strode straight up to Brooke and slapped her hard across the face.
"Your son's life matters, but my son's life doesn't?" I roared.
Brooke shuddered in fear, but quickly regained her composure.
"Let's be honest. Your son's always been frail. Donating to Esteban? That's probably the most useful thing he'll ever do," Brooke said.
Her words enraged me so much that I ached all over. I raised my hand to hit her again, but someone stopped me.
I turned and saw Bradley staring at me, his eyes bloodshot.
