Chapter 3
I was shocked and said, "How do you know that?"
Alex looked unwell, "I have a friend who works in a bank..."
He realized he'd said too much and clamped his mouth shut.
Then he changed the topic and said worriedly, "I'm worried about you. Your dad's surgery is urgent, and now there's no money. What are we supposed to do? You had ninety thousand dollars not long ago, why is there no money?"
I looked at him and said, "I put the money down as a deposit at the hospital."
Alex practically jumped out of his seat, "Why stash all your cash at the hospital? It doesn't even earn interest-you're throwing money away."
Alex was practically sweating bullets, "Can you get it out? My friend can help you invest it to make a few bucks than let it sit there doing nothing."
I shook my head.
Alex paced the room, frowning.
His behavior suddenly put me on guard.
I have traveled back in time before my death, and the time was urgent, I might've been a bit too hasty in handling things and still a bit emotional.
Now, he looked like he was hesitating.
Is he hesitating about the deal with the mystery man tomorrow?
I'd calmed down now.
After thinking it over, I realized I needed to throw out some bait to make sure the deal went through.
I took out the lottery ticket, "Honey, forget about the interest. I won the jackpot, and Dad's surgery fee is covered."
