Chapter 2
If Silas didn't feed me, I wouldn't eat, so he had no choice but to give in.
After a while, he got used to my antics, and now he even took the initiative to feed me.
But now, I wouldn't dare do that anymore.
I awkwardly scrambled back to my chair, still shaken. I said, "No, really. I'll eat by myself from now on."
Silas stared at me for a few seconds, then turned his head away, saying, "Well, you really should learn to be independent."
Turns out, he had issues with me for a while.
I was too stupid to notice it before.
After eating, Silas swept up my leftovers in a hurry, then grabbed the helmet and scooter keys and was getting ready to drive me to work.
I scratched my head, feeling a little sheepish.
Because this was also one of the things I forced Silas to do.
Whenever he gave me a ride, I'd always take the chance to shamelessly grope his abs from behind, so what should've been a ten-minute trip always turned into twenty.
I used to get all excited about Silas sending me to work, but now, it was time I stopped putting him through all that.
I snatched the helmet and said softly, "You don't have to drive me from now on. I'll just go by myself."
This time, Silas was stunned, his movements paused for a few seconds.
But before he could speak, I dropped my head and ran out of the house.
I no longer insisted on being close to him and stopped pushing him to do all these things. He would probably be happy, right?
Just half an hour after I got to my desk, my phone buzzed with a shipping notification.
Poppy: [Your accompanying Gigolo has been shipped. Keep an eye out for the delivery.]
Poppy: [By the way, here's his personal info. Don't forget to prep some essentials for him in advance.]
Then I tapped on the file in the chat.
It read, "His name is Felix Cole. His height is 5.84 feet. His weight is 170 pounds. His owner is Scarlett Hale."
Looks like he was two sizes smaller than Silas.
No way he would fit into Silas's clothes. Looked like I needed to buy some new ones for him.
Then I added "buy clothes" to my to-do list.
After work, I went shopping with a few coworkers and bought some men's clothes.
I was very engaged in chatting with them that I didn't even check my phone until I was standing at my door. All the missed calls were from Silas.
Why did Silas call me?
The next second, the door suddenly opened.
Silas looked me up and down, his eyes sharp as he asked, "Scarlett, where were you? Why didn't you answer my call?"
I replied, "I went shopping."
Then I gave him a puzzled look.
Since when did a housekeeping Gigolo care where I went?
It had never happened before.
Silas still had a sour look on his face until I walked in, arms loaded with shopping bags, dumped them all on the couch, and a plaid shirt peeked out from one of the bags.
A tiny smirk flickered at the corner of his mouth. Then he changed into slippers for me and carried the shopping bag into the room.
After a while, he walked out awkwardly.
The plaid shirt was way too small for him, barely covering his toned, muscular chest. On him, it looked kind of indecent.
He said, "It doesn't fit a bit, but I could just leave it unbuttoned."
Damn, this was one hell of a misunderstanding.
I used to buy clothes for Silas all the time, but each one was sheerer and skimpier than the last.
He refused to wear them, so in the end, he only kept two regular outfits to rotate.
I cleared my throat, feeling awkward as I tried to smooth things over. "If it doesn't fit, don't wear it. I'll buy you something new," I said.
"No need. I actually like this one," Silas said, his voice suddenly warmer.
"But this is not for you," I muttered.
Silas's gaze grew darker as he locked eyes with me. The tension in the room was so thick, I could barely breathe.
He asked, "So, who are you going to give it to?"
For some reason, I felt kind of guilty about his question.
Why did this feel like I was cheating on my husband with a boyfriend?
But on second thought, I just felt even more upset about it.
I was just a girl who wanted some action. What did I do wrong?
After dealing with Silas's icy attitude for so long, I almost broke the law.
Stupid Silas, couldn't even legally sleep with me, but never told me straight, just kept brushing me off with "maybe next time." No wonder I kept wanting him so bad.
"It has nothing to do with you," I shot back.
I glared at him and snapped, "Just do your job and stay out of everything else."
Silas was stunned, as if he didn't expect me to say that.
He replied, "Alright, I get it."
Silas took the shirt off as quickly as he could, folded it up perfectly, and placed it right back in my hands.
