Chapter 2
Gavin walked over and grabbed my hair.
I was forced to look up at him.
"Let go of me," I yelled.
I fought back with everything I had, swiping the silver sheet at his wrist.
But he was an adult werewolf, faster than me.
He slapped me hard across my face.
I was sent flying and crashed into the mud. My mouth filled with the taste of iron.
He barked out, "How dare you fight back?"
He burst out laughing, swaggered over, and stomped right down on my fingers.
I howled in pain.
The silver sheet slipped from my grasp and vanished into the mud.
An old and scrawny she-wolf came out, holding a basin of dirty and black water. She was his mother, Judy Reed.
She splashed the dirty water all over me.
"What are you waiting for? Toss her in the cellar," she snapped.
There was also a lean wolf beside them staring at me. He looked in his early twenties. He was Jack Reed, Gavin's brother. His wolf form hadn't fully developed yet.
He walked over, grabbed my legs, and dragged me across the rocky ground. My back scraped against the ground. The skin split open and started bleeding.
"She's beautiful. Gavin, when you get tired of her, pass her over to me," Jack said.
Gavin laughed wildly, "Lock her up for three days. Let her starve until she can't stand. When her rut comes, I'll claim her."
The iron door of the cellar slammed shut. Everywhere fell into darkness.
I curled up in the cold and damp corner, shivering uncontrollably.
A sliver of light cut through the tiny window above the cellar.
Gavin tossed a phone down. The screen was glowing, already on a video call.
Leonard's face appeared on the screen. He looked smug and distant. His eyes were cold and sharp.
He was leisurely savoring a glass of red liquid.
"So, Selena, how's life in the slums?" he asked.
I lay sprawled on the cold, wet, and muddy ground, staring at the screen.
"Leonard, you are fooled. Chloe is not some kind Omega. She was already fooling around with Gavin back when she lived in the slums. She is nothing but a liar," I replied.
He set his glass down. "Selena, you're hopeless. Chloe can't even hurt an ant. She pleads and cries for you every day. But you are slandering her."
Chloe's face appeared at the edge of the screen. Her eyes were teary as she leaned against Leonard's shoulder. Even through the screen, I could smell her hypocritical Omega scent.
"Selena, why would you say that about me? I want you to look after Gavin for me because he helped me before. How can you think so badly of me?" she said.
Leonard pulled her into his arms and barked at the screen, "Gavin, are you dead or what? Give this bitch a lesson."
Someone kicked open the iron cellar door.
Gavin came stomping down, smelling heavily of alcohol, with a thick leather belt gripped in his hand. His eyes burned red.
"He gave the word. I can't exactly say no," he said.
He whipped the belt across my back.
I screamed and curled up, writhing in pain.
"Weren't you always acting like the noble? A rich young lady from Uptown? Now look at yourself, groveling at my feet," he said.
He taunted me while lashing me out so hard that my body was raw and bleeding.
I gritted my teeth and did not beg for mercy.
In the dim light of the cellar, I saw large and red patches on Gavin's arm. The patches had a weird silver sheen. Yellow pus was oozing from them.
