Chapter 4
4.4. Take Me There
~Roselyn POV~
Jake was already gone but I'm still reeling from the severity of my situation. Now that my sister was kidnapped by vampires, I feel so hopeless and depressed.
Jake's voice echoed in my mind. He was right. Only by gaining supernatural powers can I save my sister.
I desperately want to save my sister, dead or alive!
That night I slept in my sister's room, deeply troubled.
When I woke up the next day, I felt so utterly alone. While I’m having breakfast, I realize that my time is running out. If I delay my decision for another day, my sister won't survive.
With a heavy heart, I finally reached a decision.
I left the house, went to the restaurant and bar and submitted my resignation. My employees give me a separation fee but still not enough to pay the house rent. I went back to the house and began packing our clothes and put them in the bags, then I called Jake on my phone.
"Hello Jake, I already accepted your offer. Can you please come here to my house?" I said. "I need to talk to you."
"Fantastic! Just give me a few minutes. I'm on my way," he assured me.
"Okay, thanks." I put my phone down on the table.
Minutes went by.
I patiently waited for him, wondering if becoming a vampire will solve all my problems or not?
I thought he would not come, but out of nowhere, he just appeared in front of me like a thief in the night. I was shocked.
"I'm here, my queen," he said, bowing in front of me, smiling devilishly.
I cleared my throat. "I'm ready to become a vampire. I want it to happen as soon as possible," I said urgently.
"Oh, getting excited, eh?" he said, lowering himself into the sofa beside me, trying to reach for my hand.
"No holding hands, no touching until we get married. Until I will become your queen!" I glared at him, pushing him away from me.
He smirks, amused by my action.
Then I remembered that I needed to borrow money from him to pay my delayed two months’ rent for the house. The owner was an old widow and she was kind to me. I can't simply leave the house without paying the rent. "Um, do you have money?" I asked in a low voice, feeling embarrassed.
He raised a brow. "Why do you need money? Don't you have money of your own?" he asked.
"I'm broke," I replied with a sigh. Then I looked at him sporting a serious expression on my face. "I want to borrow money from you because I need to pay my landlady. I'm behind two months’ rent," I explained, sighing heavily.
"Ah, okay. No problem. When it comes to money, I got your back covered. Let me handle all your money problems from now on. Let me be your cash cow," he said, chuckling as he removed his wallet from the pocket of his black leather jacket and handed it to me. "Take as much money as you want. The sky is the limit."
I eagerly opened his wallet. My eyes widened in shock. He has lots of cash and cards. Wow, he is loaded.
"Why do you have lots of money?" I asked skeptically, trying to count mentally all the $1K crispy bills in his wallet.
"Of course, I'm filthy rich! I am the vampire king of the Black Void Coven clan. I have endless treasures in my castle. Gold, silver, diamonds, you name it, I have them all. Soon you will become my queen and you will have access to those treasures as well. When you become my wife, you will never have to work again. I will pamper you with love and endless treasures as long you stay loyal and devoted to me," he said with a smile.
"Great! I can do that," I gushed in relief. "Let's go to my landlady now and pay my rent," I said, standing up.
"Okay, let's go," he said and rose to his feet.
We left the house and before we went to my landlady's house, I went to the bakery and bought a carrot cake, Mrs. Whitmore's favorite dessert.
When we arrived at her house, Jake waited outside.
I paid my landlady my house rental and informed her that I'm going to vacate the house the following day, we chatted for a few minutes and afterward I took my leave.
Jake was standing outside, staring at the full moon above. His eyes glistened brightly.
"I'm done here," I told him softly.
He looked at me and asked, "Where do you want to go next, sweetie?"
I pointed my hand at the tallest building in the area. "Can you take me to the rooftop of that building?" I requested, wanting to know how powerful he is.
"Sure, no problem," he grinned and held my hand. "I will take you there."
"Okay, let's go there now!" I responded in glee.
"But first… let's go behind that tree over there so that no one will see us disappearing in front of their very eyes," he said casually.
"Can you make us invisible—? Can you do that?" I asked in anticipation.
"Yup. I can teleport to anywhere in the world, float in the air without being seen by everyone. That's one of my natural powers I'm born with, I have more."
"Wow, amazing!" I gushed in delight. Becoming a vampire is not so bad after all.
"My powers will become yours as well after you become my vampire queen. I will train you how to use and enhance your power so we can go after those vampires who kidnapped your sister and crushed them with our hands," he said in a hard tone.
"Thanks for always reminding me that I have a sister to save and powerful enemies to punish and defeat," I said as anger and revenge burned brightly in my heart.
He patted my arms gently. "Shall we go now to our destination? Are you ready?"
"Yes, I'm ready," I responded, feeling excited to experience something new and terrifying in my life.
"Close your eyes, sweetie," he ordered softly. "Don't feel nervous, just trust the process. Everything will be alright," he added, his voice gentle and soothing.
"Okay. I believe you." I closed my eyes, trusting him with all my heart, allowing him to take me to a place where I've never been before.
Terrified of what’s going to happen, I just leave it to fate, but I do remember my feet leaving the solid ground and being airlifted into the air with Jake's arms wrapped around me securely, holding me in place, my long hair floating in the air. I didn't dare open my eyes, scared shit of what I'm going to see down there.
And before I knew it, my feet landed on a hard surface.
"Sweetie, we finally landed on the rooftop of the building. You can open your eyes now and see the fantastic city view around us," he said, urging me to open my eyes.
I opened my eyes and looked around me. OMG, the view is amazing up here in the tallest building in the neighborhood. "We did it! The view is fabulous!" I giggled in awe.
"Yeah, everywhere you look is nice, but the view looks so much better during night time because of the sea of lights flooding the entire city. We will stay here until the sun goes down and darkness fills the sky," he said.
I dare not go to the edge of the rooftop because I'm afraid I might plunge down to my death.
I looked at him. "They say vampires are afraid of the sun. Why are you not burning yet?" I asked curiously.
"My skin is immune to the sun. I can walk under the sun without any problem. But not all vampires can do that. Other vampires take a drug in tablet or capsule form called Sun Suppressant once a week that will make them immune to the harmful sun rays," he explained.
"What about me? After I become a vampire can I also walk under the sun just like you?" I asked.
"Um, let's see...I will be infusing your body with my blood. I will feed you my blood on your fist feed, you might get my natural ability as well. But if not, then no need to worry, you can take a capsule so you will be able to walk under the sun just like humans," he said reassuringly.
"But how about feeding on blood? Do I have to hunt for humans to drink their blood?" I asked, grimacing because I find it revolting.
"No need to do that, only if you want to. We buy fresh blood from the blood bank. You can feed on my blood any time. We can feed on each other's blood if we feel thirsty or hungry," he explained.
"So, vampires can't survive without drinking blood?" I asked for clarity.
"Yes of course. Humans can't survive for a long time without food. Vampires are also the same, we can't survive without drinking blood from a live source," he said.
"In one day, how many times do I need to feed on your blood after I become a vampire?" I inquired.
"It depends, some vampires drink blood once a day, that's enough for them. Others do it every other day and some can survive feeding on blood twice a week. Different body, different needs."
"I see... I hope I will only crave blood once a day," I said wistfully. Just thinking about the actual deed of sucking other people's blood makes me want to vomit.
"I don't mind feeding you my blood three times a day, as long as I can satisfy you then it's my pleasure to serve you my queen," he said, his voice gentle and romantic.
I rolled my eyes. "With all the power you had, why choose me as your bride? I'm weak. I'm not your own kind. Why choose a human as your queen?" I asked, looking deeply into his eyes, searching for the truth.
"Because my heart chooses you. The first time I saw your face, my heart didn't stop beating. I finally found my queen to love and cherish for eternity," he said, his tone serious.
"So, cliché," I murmured, giggling.
"Have you had a boyfriend before we met?" he asked.
I shook my head. "Nope. I haven't had a boyfriend since I was born," I responded shyly.
"See... the reason why you never had a boyfriend is because your heart is waiting for me. I'm your soulmate. We are destined to be with each other for eternity," he said, wrapping me in his arms.
I pushed him away. "Too early for that. Wedding first before you can touch me!"
Amused, he chuckled and pinched my nose. "Whatever you say, sweetie." He stepped away, putting a distance between us.
I looked at him in a different light. I'm glad that he is not like other people that would take advantage of my weakness, despite him knowing he can have me anytime by using his power to make me submit to him.
He asked, "So... where do you want to go next, sweetie? Tell me."
I can think of so many things to do, taking advantage of Jake's status and power but the most important thing for me right now is to become a vampire so I can save my sister.
"I don't want to go anywhere anymore. I just want you to take me with you and transform me into a vampire. Much better if you can do it tonight so that the next day, I'm already a powerful vampire," I said urgently.
He nodded his head. "Alright, since you are eager to become my queen. Then let's do it tonight. After three days, you will become a full-fledged vampire," he said.
"Okay. I'm ready. Where are we going now?" I asked.
He responded, "It's time to go back to my castle on the hill and start the preparation for your transition."
He extended his hand and I grabbed it, knowing full well he is my only hope.
"We will teleport now to my castle. Close your eyes, sweetie," he murmured in my ears.
"Okay." I closed my eyes, my heart beat wildly in anticipation of what's going to happen next.
A few minutes later, my feet landed on solid ground. And when I opened my eyes, we were inside a room, equipped with modern appliances.
"We're back in my castle and this is my bedroom," he said. "I will give you a tour of our home before we have dinner tonight."
"Okay. But my bags are still in the rented house. I need to bring them up here," I said.
"Don't worry about your bags, I will go back there for your stuff then I will also drop the key to your landlady's house. All you need to do is rest here in the room. Let's have some house exploration later after I'm back."
"Don't worry, no one will disturb you here," he added, assuring me that I'm in a safe place.
"Got it. Thanks," I responded with a smile.
"Sweetie, I'll take my leave now," he said and vanished from the room in the blink of an eye.
I lay down on the comfy king size bed and stared at the ceiling of the room. I didn't expect my life would turn upside down after my sister eloped with her boyfriend.
Everything happened so fast.
This is the day my life will be changed forever. I really have no choice, then so be it.
I hope I will not regret this life changing decision I made today.
I breathed slowly, allowing serenity to take over my weary heart and mind.
I began to pray…
"Dear God, please keep my sister safe. I'm doing the best I can so I can save her. Please keep her alive while I'm undergoing transition," I prayed over and over again in my mind.
Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted with everything that's happening to me, I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.
