Chapter 1
In the fifth month of my pregnancy, I, Michelle Lee, was pushed down the stairs by my husband's ex-girlfriend, Jenny Smith, so I lost the baby in my womb right on the spot.
Hemorrhaging, I was on the verge of death, but Jenny shamelessly threatened me. "Without my permission, nobody can give Tom Jefferson a baby."
Later, I threw a tantrum in front of my husband, Tom Jefferson, so he brought Jenny over and made her apologize to me.
I had just been pushed out of the operating room when Tom arrived at the hospital.
The throbbing pain in my belly reminded me that my baby had been killed.
The murderer of my baby was Jenny.
However, Jenny didn't show an ounce of regret. To make things worse, she even showed off her intimate photo with my husband on her Facebook.
Her post was defiant. [How can Tom fall for the wire grass after he smelled the rose? Never can some overconfident woman beat me.]
Jenny pretended to fall over after she had pushed me down the stairs.
Tom arrived. He shot me a glance, turned around, and carried Jenny into his arms.
Lying in a pool of blood and suffering from sheer pain, I could do nothing but watch my husband hurry away with his ex-girlfriend.
Only then did I realize that I couldn't beat Jenny in Tom's heart.
Tom sat by my sick bed and looked tired.
I showed him my back because I didn't want to see him at all.
Suddenly, he embraced me from behind and stroked my hair.
I sniffed from him the smell of perfume that belonged to Jenny, and it reminded me of the twisted face she had when she had pushed me down the stairs.
Instantly, I flared up. I questioned Tom after I pushed his hand off me. "Don't you want me to die as soon as possible? What are you doing here?"
Tom seemed hurt, and he said, "I am sorry, Michelle. We will have children one day."
People said that women would suffer if they loved their men too much.
After our wedding, I considered Tom my whole world, and I never said no to him.
Unfortunately, he took advantage of my love, manipulated me, and unscrupulously hurt me. I had bitten the bullet, and I was absolutely shattered now.
"I want a divorce, Tom," I said emotionlessly.
I felt that Tom hugging me froze for a second. Then, he made me face him and embraced me hard. "No! No way!" he repeated.
Because of the throbbing pain in my belly, I didn't have the strength to free myself from Tom.
Perhaps my tears brought Tom back to earth. He agitatedly wiped my tears off and said, "My love, don't divorce me. We will have children. We will. No divorce."
He repeated the same speech again and again. His sad look was so ironic to me.
That night, Jenny came to my ward.
She arrived in the white shirt I had bought Tom.
With a thin Hermes belt around her waist, she was wearing skinny jeans and my Valentino high heels beneath her long legs.
Obviously, she didn't come to make an apology.
After one glance at the parenting book in my hands, she gazed at me and scoffed, "Michelle, your feet swell up for your pregnancy. It is a pity to dump these high heels, so Tom gifted them to me."
Gasping with rage, I threw my book at her and shouted, "Get lost!"
"Come on! Are you angry about this trifle? Wouldn't it drive you crazy if I told you how thoughtful Tom has been to me all these years?"
Jenny giggled heartily.
She then elaborated on her interactions with Tom all these years.
Only then did I know that Tom had spent most of his business trips with Jenny.
It turned out he bought her gifts every festival.
During her monthly period, he was so worried about her that he was sleepless. Considerate, he prepared the painkiller for her in advance.
To irritate her was why he had agreed to marry me.
Tom clearly knew how excited I had been when we got married as I wished.
Because of Jenny's visit, my condition worsened. As a result, I spent more than half a month in the hospital.
During my hospitalization, Tom visited me every day.
Whenever he made a mistake, he came back to me as if nothing had happened. With fake love, he played up to me as before.
That day, I couldn't help asking, "Tom, when you chose her over me that day, did it ever cross your mind that both our baby and I would die on the same day?"
