Chapter 2
Everyone kept playing the game.
Lucien and Serena were biting from opposite ends of the same cookie, their lips inching closer with every bite.
"Kiss! Kiss!" Everyone started chanting, egging them on.
With everyone cheering them on, Lucien and Serena locked lips in a deep kiss.
Then Serena, blushing, nestled into Lucien's arms and shot me a sly, triumphant look.
Lucien, clearly pleased, wrapped his arm around her.
Then I lost the game, and the punishment was to choose someone to kiss for thirty seconds.
Everyone went quiet, all eyes on me.
They were all wondering who I'd choose.
Would I just go with Lucien again, like always?
Lucien looked a little tense, avoiding my gaze.
He clearly didn't want me to just pick him out of habit.
Adrian, sitting right next to me, seemed pretty tense himself.
I grinned. "Of course, I'm choosing my boyfriend."
With that, I turned to Adrian. "Ready?"
I could see Adrian finally relax.
He locked eyes with me, his gaze steady and intense, before leaning close.
I slipped my arm around the back of his neck and kissed him.
Another wave of awkward whoops and whistles swept through the crowd.
Sure, they'd seen Lucien make out with other girls before, but nobody ever expected me to go for another guy like that.
So at first, everyone was all hyped up, but then, out of nowhere, the whole room just went quiet.
Adrian kissed me with real intensity, chasing after my lips like he couldn't get enough.
After thirty seconds, I pulled away, only to catch Lucien looking seriously pissed, and that's when everyone clammed up.
Seriously, what a joke.
Adrian gently wiped a trace of moisture from the corner of my mouth.
"What's wrong? Didn't I just take my punishment?" I asked, pretending to be confused by the weird vibe in the room.
"Sophia might have lost her memory, but she sure isn't shy around her boyfriend," Serena snarked, her words laced with sarcasm, clearly poking fun at me for my so-called amnesia.
Lucien's expression grew even darker.
I headed out to the bathroom and caught voices drifting from the stairwell.
"Adrian, I told you not to get handsy with her. That was pretty damn out of line," Lucien said, his voice icy.
"It was just a game, man. She's lost her memory. Was she supposed to pick you, the one with another woman hanging off him? Come on, that's not even realistic. I'm the one you decided should be her boyfriend, remember?" Adrian shot back with a smirk.
Lucien fell silent for a moment. "Whatever. Just watch yourself. I don't actually think you'd want to sleep with Sophia, but keep touching to a minimum, alright? Otherwise, you'll just make things harder for yourself, and I'd feel kinda bad for you, you know?"
"Ha, you really do get me," Adrian chuckled.
Back at Adrian's villa, I headed for my room.
Without a word, Adrian pulled me in and pressed his lips to mine.
I barely had time to react before he kissed me.
"Wait-"
I tried to break free, but he just held me tighter, not letting me go.
After what felt like forever, he finally pulled away, his hand lingering on my cheek as he spoke in a low voice.
"Looks like we made some progress today? Maybe we can get a little closer, one step at a time," he murmured.
I just stared at him, kinda stunned.
He was going against what his bro just said.
I just couldn't figure him out.
Lucien and I came from completely different backgrounds. He was the one who kept working at it, step by step, until I finally accepted him.
Later on, I met some of his friends—a bunch of wealthy socialites, especially Adrian.
Adrian pretty much hated me and looked down on me, and honestly, everyone in their circle agreed on that.
He was always making snide remarks about me and Lucien's relationship.
Back then, I'd steer clear of him whenever I could.
But after my "amnesia," Lucien practically shoved me and Adrian together.
And ever since then, Adrian keeps making moves whenever he gets the chance.
Is this all just payback against Lucien for shoving us together?
