Chapter 4
She hastened to the carriage and held it.
“Hold on Thunda. Where are you going? Why did you just decide to leave? You had barely touched your food and …”
“I have better things to do with my time than sit down with daughter and father to have breakfast. And since when has my decision as an alpha become your concern?” he dimmed his eyes at her.
And she winced and hesitated. “I mean he just wants to appreciate you for saving my life. That is all. My father is a nice man. Perhaps, you have heard all sorts of derogatory attributes about him, which is the reason for your coldness towards me. Whatever it is you have against him, tell me so…”
“…We can iron it out I guess,” he retorted, and sighed, “I have an urgent alphas’ meeting to attend. I have brought you back to your pack, so let me be. If you keep pestering me, you may get me walked up, and you won’t like it.”
“I am not saying you can’t leave!” she raised her voice, arousing her father to peep through the window, wondering if the voice sounded from her. “All I am saying is to leave honorably. You just can’t stand up and vacate the presence of the alpha king.”
Thunda curved his lips, and his facial features hardened. “The last time I checked your father wasn’t the goddess. I told him I would be taking my leave. What else do you want me to do? Do you want me to fetch ten heads of wolves before he would understand simple English?”
Seeing that he was losing his temper, she leaned forward and got on the carriage, before her wolf steered her to touch him.
“Please, darling, if my father and I have done anything that hurts you, say it so we can sort things out and stop leaving in the dark. From the moment I mentioned my identity, your wolf lost calmness, and unleashed on me.”
She rubbed his hairy hands, and he pulled out of her hold, and forced a smile. “Listen up, I am not in the mood for this. If you don’t mind I would love to ride away, so get down.”
She raised a thick brow, wondering if the alpha she craved would find it so easy to unleash stridently on her. Thunda was coldhearted and she knew this wasn’t his true self.
“Can I come to your pack tonight? I will be lonely and my wolf wants some warmth. Can’t recall the last time I …”
“You are not welcomed!” he snapped and steadied his gaze in the void, “Get down, Erica. I have tended to you wounds, healed you, gave you shelter and sent you back to you pack, what else do you want for me?”
“Your heart,” she mumbled and swallowed hard as his green eyes made her wolf leap but she had often warned her wolf to cautions herself when in his presence. “Please, talk to me. Did my father offend you , your pack, your parents, or any of your loyalists. My father is a good king.”
He flashed a frown at her, and tossed his head in ruin. “You are not going to stand there , questioning me and at the same time rendering praises on your father. I hate it when wolves force out words form my mouth.”
“Wolves?” she retorted, am I one of those wolves?” she winced at him, “What are you hiding from me? if you knew my true identity you would have left me to perish in the jungle. Yes.”
“Oh yes, I would have done it so can you let me be? Perhaps, I shouldn’t have been the nice alpha that I have always been. If you keep pestering me I will yell at you and I don’t care if I am in your father’s pack. Just go, good bye.”
He saddled his carriage and began to ride off.
“Ok, fine,” she snapped, “Let me get down!”
He stopped and she hesitated a little, dared to lock eyes with him before getting down.
The carriage rode off and she stood, lost, her wolf fighting off the urge to howl and run after him and she cautioned it and shuffled back to the pack looking crimson and stolen.
