Chapter 2
"Come sit with me." I pull her to my desk.
I always have an empty seat next to me in all my classes.
"You're the last person I want to be affiliated with." We both sat down.
"And why is that?"
"You're the most popular girl in school?"
"So?" The bell rung and my teacher closed the door and began the lesson.
"I don't need a ride home!" Romy said.
Oh the girl from early wouldn't tell me her name so I just looked for it on her class work.
"It's pretty cold Romy." I said putting my arm around her.
"Girl!
Get off me!" She laughed as she pushed me.
"Fine.
Have fun walking in the cold then." I said and walked towards the student parking lot.
I looked back to see a pouting Romy following behind me.
I chuckle and unlock my car doors.
And she hopped in.
"I'll take that ride." She said glaring at me.
"You're way too adorable for that glare."
"Oh!
Could you just take me home!
I'll give you my address." She said taking her phone out.
"Nah, I'm kinda hungry." I say and pull out the lot and head to the vintage burger joint up the street.
"This is kidnapping!
The stories are true!" She wailed loudly.
"I'm going to go eat a burger.
Calm down." I said as we pulled up to the burger joint.
Even with all her protest Romy got out the car and we walked in and sat at a tiny booth.
I let Romy slide in fist and sat right next to her.
She glared at me but it just made me laugh.
She's so cute when she tries to be scary.
"Hello, good evening!
I'm Lena and I'll be your waitress for today.What drink can I get for you two today?" The waitress asked while taking out a notepad.
"I'll take a sweet tea." Romy said and the waitress smiled at her.
"Okay!
And for you ma'am?"
"I'll take a Cola." She nodded her head and then passed us the menus.
"I'll have those out to ya soon!" She said then turned and walked away.
I looked back at Romy who just turned away from me and got on her phone.
"Now that's not very nice Romy." I said while scooting closer to her.
"You don't have to be so nice to me Nova?
!" She mumbled.
"I can't be nice?"
"It's not that- I just don't want your sympathy!"

For what happened in the hall?

Nah I'm not doing this because of that.
I thought if you found someone attractive you court them.
Is that wrong?" Romy's eyes got as wide as saucers.

And I've always wanted to talk to her but now I'm terrified.
Well terrified is an exaggeration but I need more time to process this.

"Where is Lena?" I said looking around.

And what would you like to eat?" Lena asked with an sweet smile.

"Thanks for the ride Nova... and lunch." Romy said as she got out.
"No problem.
And you have my number, text me." She smiled and bit her lip.
"Okay..." she said and walked to her house.I enjoy seeing her walk away...I thought as she walked in safely then closed the door.
I pulled off and headed home.
When I made it home Mama Vance was eating a bowl full of fruit.
"Hey Momma." I said and she put the bowl down and gave me a stern look.
"Nova!
Where have you been?
I've been worried sick!
I-I even eat all the pears first!"
"I took a friend out to eat." I rolled my shoulders and shifted to my real form.
Momma wiggled her brows and smirked.

I friend or afriend?"
"I'm trying to make her my lover but it's a lot harder on this planet.
Usually I would release my pheromones and attract a lover but I don't think that'll work here." I said walking over to the Momma.
"You just have to be charming!
And kind." Momma said pinching my cheeks.
"I tried but it didn't work."
"Sweety... it's not that easy." Momma said while laughing.
I narrowed my eyes.
Why is it so hard here?

I don't know why!
I'm told my human form is hot.

You get cuter every day!" She said shaking her head and walking to the living room.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and it was an unknown number.

I laughed and programmed her number in my phone.

I stop texting when I felt Momma looking over my shoulder.
"I'm going to my room..." she huffed and I walked to my room.

"Don't stay out too late!
You have to go to the lab!" Momma yelled as I was walking out the door.
"I know Momma!" I locked the door and got in my car.
Romy had texted me telling me she was ready.
I like thisfriendthing we got going.
I smiled the whole drive to her house.
I debated whether or not to walk up to her house and get her or text her.
Is it bad manners to just text?
Humans are so tricky when it comes to thing like this!
I just have up and walked up to the door and rang the doorbell.
I cute little girl answered the door.
She was still in her night gown and had on one fuzzy sock.
"Good morning.
Who are you?" She said while rubbing her eye.
"I'm Nova, I'm here to pick up Romy." I said and she smiled.

"Good morning beautiful." I said and she smile but then rolled her eyes.
"Good morning." Romy said and walked passed me.

I soon followed behind her and got in my car.
"You hungry?
I'll get you something to eat." I asked think about how I forgot breakfast because Romy was the only thing on my mind.
"Are you messing with me right now?" She yelled sounding upset.
I looked into her hurt eyes confused.

I skipped breakfast to come get you.
I don't want to eat in front of you.
I'll feel bad." Her expression softened.
"Oh... sorry," she looked down and picked at her fingers," I thought you were picking on me because of my weight." Why do humans care so much?
Although I don't find a lot of them attractive.
Mostly because I'm used to how my kind look.

Having the Nova Vance walk me to all my classes was so embarrassing.
I've always been on the opposite end of things.

I sighed while working on this Christmas word search.
I hate when teacher have nothing to give you so they give you crap work and still grade it!
I wondered if I should text her- no!
I just know she would use this against me!
But honestly until now I would've never thought Nova was gay.
