Chapter 2
He was handsome, tall with long legs, and standing there, he caught everyone's eye.
I was instantly hooked the moment I saw him.
Thanks to my dad's connections and three years of chasing after him, I finally managed to melt Matthew's icy exterior and make him mine.
Matthew's family wasn't anything special, but his abilities were flawless. Even my dad couldn't stop singing his praises.
He proved himself. He pulled off a major project with his team, and in a few years, his net worth shot through the roof. He became the hotshot young CEO everyone admired.
Once a guy got rich and powerful, the women started flocking to him.
Back when he was a broke kid, I was the only one who wanted him.
But now that he was handsome and loaded, things were totally different.
Luckily, even though Matthew was always cold to me, he never gave any other woman special treatment, so I never had to worry.
That was until Lilith showed up.
I realized Matthew was genuinely different with her.
Thanks to her, I divorced Matthew three times.
Lilith played dirty and had no shame.
She'd leave lipstick stains on Matthew's shirt, send him flirty texts late at night, or even show up at parties wearing the same outfit as me on purpose.
But Matthew was clueless. When I was shaking with anger, he'd say coolly, "You're overthinking it. She's not like you."
I thought maybe it wasn't the right time.
I waited until we were getting intimate to bring up Lilith, hoping Matthew would finally kick her out.
He paused for a second and pinned me down again. "You're right. She really is bad news."
But the next day, she was still glued to his side.
I was so pissed that I could barely think straight. I decided to set him free and angrily demanded a divorce.
Matthew stared at me in silence and asked, "Are you sure?"
I said, "Yeah, I'm sure."
"Alright," he replied, not even trying to stop me.
But every time, within a month, Matthew would come back asking to remarry.
I always said yes.
There was no other reason.
I couldn't resist his looks and that body.
I rolled over in bed, watching the chat explode.
[Damn, why isn't the evil Sandra falling for it this time? In the original, wasn't she supposed to be on her fourth breakup phase already?]
[Because he feels indebted, Matthew would never ask for a divorce. So is Lilith stuck in an underground romance with him? Seriously?]
[Relax, Sandra is dumb and nasty. Lilith can do something to piss her off later, and she'll make a scene again.]
[Forget Sandra, look! Lilith is with Matthew, meeting a client. Someone asked if she was Mrs. Perry. He didn't deny it, so that's basically a yes, right?]
Sure enough, Matthew had feelings for Lilith.
I was fuming as I looked away.
I was not stupid.
I already knew how Matthew operated.
He was downright cheap with any woman who wasn't his wife and never spent a dime on them.
But when I was his wife, I could go wild with his credit card. Even if I bought a wall full of Hermès bags, he wouldn't bat an eye.
But once we got divorced, I'd have to walk out empty-handed. He wouldn't let me take a single dollar.
After all these years with Matthew, I'd gotten used to throwing money around.
Any random beauty treatment could cost tens of thousands, and my stash would be blown in less than two weeks.
That was why I always agreed to remarry him at lightning speed.
So this time, I was not going to be the one to bring it up.
Since Matthew had fallen for Lilith, he'd make things official with her sooner or later.
All I needed to do was wait.
Once he was the one who asked for a split, I'd be able to demand a fat settlement, fair and square.
But until then, I was going to splurge like crazy and make sure I milk every dollar out of him.
With that thought, I sprang up in bed and called the beauty salon to book a beauty package worth over 300 thousand dollars.
The next morning, I woke up to a text from Matthew: [Not coming home for dinner tonight. Don't wait up.]
I stared at it for a few seconds.
Then I called my bestie, Tiffany Waters.
Spending money alone was boring. Of course, I had to get my bestie in on the splurge.
I slipped into a high-end designer dress and rushed out the door.
To my surprise, after finishing my beauty treatment, I walked past a jewelry store.
Suddenly, Tiffany, walking next to me, blurted out, "Holy crap!
"Sandra, isn't that Matthew? Who's that woman with him?"
I looked where Tiffany was staring.
And sure enough, it was Lilith.
She was leaning in, focused on picking out a ring.
Matthew was right beside her, giving her that soft, gentle smile.
So this was what he meant by "something came up".
Tiffany finally got a good look at Lilith's face and spat, "Isn't that the homewrecker who made you divorce Matthew?
"Damn, what's Matthew playing at? He just remarried you, and now he's messing around with her again?"
Tiffany caught me trying to sneak off, rolling up her sleeves. "Sandra, what are you running for?
"That's so not you. You're the official Mrs. Perry. Come on, let's go in there and give them a piece of our mind."
