Chapter 6
Vivian kept striking him, but Andrew stayed perfectly still.
Seeing Andrew like that, Vivian clutched her chest and stumbled back a couple of steps.
When she spoke again, her voice was thick with heartbreak and disappointment. "Andrew, how could you be so blind?
"How could you break Emily's heart like this for a secretary who's only been with you for three months?"
Andrew looked up at Vivian, about to defend himself, but then he caught sight of Emily standing in the crowd, her face streaked with tears.
Her face was ghostly pale, a bandage wrapped around her forehead, and she looked like she might collapse at any moment.
Without thinking, Andrew released Olivia, his eyes fixed on Emily, stunned. "Emily, what happened to you?"
Emily ignored him and made her way through the crowd to Vivian's side, catching her hand before she could strike again. "Let it go."
Those words, so frail and filled with sadness, hit Andrew right in the chest.
Olivia, who had been standing off to the side, immediately turned to face Emily as soon as she appeared.
Tears poured down Olivia's face as she begged Emily, her voice shaking. "Ms. Harper, please, I'm begging you. Andrew and I love each other. Please, don't come between us.
"I never wanted to ruin your family. I don't want anything, and I won't threaten your place with him. I just want to be with him. Please, I'm begging you. Let us be together.
"I know you two grew up together, but love isn't about who got there first.
"I know I'm being shameless. I shouldn't have fallen for him. I tried to let him go, but once I fell, I couldn't help myself anymore.
"You have everything, but he's all I have left. Please, have a little mercy on me. Let me have him."
Olivia's words caused an uproar among the crowd.
But her expression was pure stubborn resolve, as if she was ready to risk everything for love.
Emily held back the furious Vivian, then turned to Andrew, her voice calm. "Is that what you think, too?"
Andrew's eyes held a mix of struggle and emotion. When he met Olivia's hopeful gaze, he still turned away.
He looked at Emily, his fists clenched at his sides, barely keeping his composure. "No. I won't be with her."
Olivia gazed at him, stunned, tears rolling down her face.
Andrew avoided her heartbroken eyes, his voice thick with emotion. "Olivia, it ends here. There's no future for us. You should leave this city as soon as possible."
With that, he strode out of the hospital room.
Olivia slumped to the floor, her face full of despair as she watched his figure disappear.
She bit her lip hard, then looked at Emily. "Emily, even if you steal him away, you can't push me out of his heart. The real homewrecker is the one he doesn't love."
Emily looked down at her, her tone icy. "Are you so sure you're the one he loves? He loved me before. Now he loves you. In the future, he'll love someone else."
Olivia stood up and pulled open her collar, exposing her neckline. "Look, this is proof he loves me!"
The sight of those marks on her skin was like a slap in Emily's face.
Olivia let out a cold laugh, her eyes burning with hatred as she glared at Emily. "Emily, this isn't over!"
Emily grabbed Vivian, who was about to throw a punch, and dragged her back to her own hospital room.
Andrew leaned against the window, his figure radiating a sense of melancholy.
