Chapter 3
They were busy buttering Chloe up when someone spotted me at the door.
"Selina, you've got dark circles under your eyes. Where were you last night, messing around?" one of them sneered.
"It's Chloe's big day. Even if you're just her nanny's daughter, you shouldn't show up looking such a mess," another chimed in.
I fixed my gaze on Chloe.
To my surprise, she looked right back at me and scoffed. "Selina, do you seriously think you're the Harrington heiress?
"It's my wedding day, and you're just wandering around here like some stray dog. If you mess up my big day, can you seriously afford the consequences?"
"What do you mean by that? This is my home," I shot back.
As soon as I said that, they all burst out laughing.
Chloe's simp, who'd been glued to her since school, snickering at me.
He said, "Selina, do you even have any shame?
"Your mom only gets to stay here because she's the nanny, and you're just mooching off her. Chloe's been generous enough to give you a share of everything, and now you're pretending you actually belong here?
"We've all known Chloe for years. Who doesn't know she's Mr. Harrington's one and only little sister?"
Folks at Harrington Group said they'd never even seen me at the office.
Chloe's lackey smirked at me. "Chloe got a bunch of her friends jobs at Harrington Group, and you didn't get a spot. No wonder you're making noise here like some stray."
"You're barking loud, but all Chloe ever gave you was a job that pays just 1,000 a month," I scoffed.
As soon as I finished, the woman, humiliated and pissed off, slapped me hard across the face.
My cheek instantly swelled up. I glared at Chloe's lackey, gritting my teeth. "Don't forget that I'm getting married today.
"If you dare hit me, Moore Group will make you pay for it!"
"Still dreaming, huh? Did you party too hard last night and can't even wake up?" one of them sneered.
"Need us to dump some cold water on you to wake you up?" another taunted.
As they jeered, someone showed up with a basin of freezing water. I tried to dodge, but two of them grabbed my arms and pinned me down.
The icy water drenched me from head to toe, sending chills down my spine and making me tremble uncontrollably.
Before I could even react, another slap smashed across my face.
Chloe marched up and grabbed my chin. She said, "Feeling awake now?
"If not, maybe we should spice things up. What about a knife, a whip, or fire tongs? Take your pick."
Her lackey was already handing her a fruit knife.
Chloe tapped the cold blade against my cheek. "Selina, we grew up together. I was going to let you off easy, but you just had to make a scene on my wedding day.
"The Moore family chose me, not you, you worthless bitch!"
Chloe's lackey slammed her foot into my knee.
My legs gave out and I collapsed to the floor.
Chloe stamped on my face. "Selina, you're nothing but my servant. Begging a hundred times, and maybe I'll think about forgiving you."
Blood dripped from my lips as I shot her a mocking grin. "In your dream.
"Chloe, as long as I don't agree, the Moore family's people won't show up today."
"Still mouthing off? Just wait till the Moore family's cars show up. I'll smash your mouth myself," Chloe sneered.
"Still dreaming, huh? You really think you can boss the Moore family around?" someone scoffed.
They didn't buy my words at all, just kept landing kicks on me one after another.
Pain wracked my body as I curled up on the floor, trying to shield myself.
But even after they wore themselves out, the wedding cars were still nowhere to be seen.
Chloe started to panic. She stormed over, dug her nails into my chin, and snapped, "What did you do? Why aren't the Moore family's cars here yet?
"You've definitely pulled some stunt, trying to wreck my wedding!"
I just chuckled. "What else could it be? The Moore family has known that you're trying to take my place as the bride, of course."
She slapped me hard across the face. "Still spouting nonsense? I'll feed you to the dogs right now!"
Chloe was losing her mind, ordering her lackeys to drag me toward the kennels.
But right at that moment, the loud honking of wedding cars echoed outside.
The Moore family's wedding convoy had arrived.
I blinked in surprise. Didn't we break things off? Why were the Moore family showing up?
Before I could even wrap my head around it, Chloe was practically glowing with excitement as she hopped into the wedding car.
Her lackey dragged me along and tossed me in right after her.
"You're getting a front-row seat to how the rich families tie the knot, you jealous mutt," they sneered.
