Chapter 1
My husband Lucas Hart's childhood sweetheart, Renee Jenson, attempted to kill herself because I called her a shameless homewrecker.
To stick up for her, he pushed me while I was pregnant. I hit my head and got hurt.
I was in a coma for several days. Then I woke up.
When I opened my eyes, Lucas came into my hospital room with a lawyer and handed me divorce papers.
I looked at this furious stranger who looked at me like I was his worst enemy. "Who are you?"
I had amnesia. I remembered everyone, except for Lucas, the man I had thrown myself at for six years.

The day I found out I was pregnant, Lucas' childhood sweetheart, Renee, posted a photo on her social media. She was cheek to cheek with Lucas.
The caption said: [We're official. Send us your blessings.]
I had just picked up my pregnancy test results when I saw her post.
I looked at the gentle, loving smile on Lucas' face and Renee's happy smile. It hit me how pathetic I was in this marriage, always chasing after him.
He had never once given me that soft, loving look in our whole marriage.
I used to make excuses for him. I thought he just didn't know how to be soft.
Now I got it. It was not that he didn't know. He just never thought I deserved it from him.
I had spent six years groveling for Lucas' love. I never got the gentle love I wanted. But Renee? She got it from him without even trying.
I felt a deep, cold sadness in my heart. I guessed no matter how hard I tried, I'd never be able to warm his cold heart.
So I liked Renee's post and left a comment. I wrote: [No matter how badly you want my spot, you'll have to wait until I divorce him first, right? I'm the real wife here.]

I got home from the hospital and was halfway through a glass of water when I heard a car pull up outside.
Lucas stormed through the door, furious. He saw me and shouted, "Jocelyn, why did you comment on Renee's post? Do you have any idea how much you hurt her?"
I held my glass and quietly watched angry Lucas. I looked at that familiar face that I loved more than anything.
He kept shouting, "Renee has depression. Because of that pointless comment you left, she just tried to kill herself."
"Did she die?" I asked, my voice flat.
"You... how can you be so cold?" He was losing it, totally set off by how unfazed I was.
He went on, "Jocelyn, I never thought you were this kind of person. Let me tell you. Luckily, we found her in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable."
I gave him a cold smile. If someone really wanted to die, would they shamelessly cling to another woman's husband?
In a single year, Renee had tried to kill herself over her thing with Lucas at least dozens of times. If she truly wanted to die, no one could stop her.
Because Lucas favored her, she acted like she could get away with anything. She used her "depression" to manipulate him.
It was so obvious, but Lucas, the golden boy, didn't see it. He was more than happy to run around doing everything for her, no matter how ridiculous it was.
I thought Lucas did understand. How could someone so smart not get it?
He just did it because he liked her, because he loved her. That was all there was to it.
After realizing that, I suddenly felt how ridiculous my six years of chasing him had been.
Lucas had no idea what was going through my head. He just kept yelling, "I'm telling you, Jocelyn. You need to go apologize to Renee. Ask her to forgive you."
I didn't bother arguing. I just asked him softly, "What if I don't? Then what?"
"Then we get a divorce," he said.
I looked at his cold face and listened to those ruthless words. I felt a chill in my heart. "I won't apologize. Not even over my dead body."
But Lucas wouldn't take no for an answer. He stormed over, grabbed me, and tried to drag me out to go apologize to Renee.
I refused no matter what. We struggled. I bit him. He let go because it hurt, and then he pushed me.
I lost my balance and fell backward. My head hit the hard marble counter. A sharp pain shot through me, and I blacked out.
