Chapter 4

Dawn broke on the day of The Commission assembly.
Carlos walked in himself, holding a glass of water.
Two armed guards flanked him.
"Take them."
He tossed two heavy-duty sleeping pills onto the table.
"Today is a big day. I don't want any mistakes."
Every major family boss in Rome would be gathered at the estate today.
I stared at the pills, unmoving.
A guard immediately raised his gun, aiming it at my head.
I picked up the pills, put them in my mouth right in front of him, drank the water, and swallowed.
Minutes later, the drugs kicked in.
My legs gave out. I collapsed onto the rug and closed my eyes.
Satisfied that I was out cold, Carlos sneered.
"Sleep. When you wake up, it'll all be over."
The door locked heavily again. His footsteps faded down the hall.
The second he was gone, I opened my eyes and spat the pills out from under my tongue.
I reached under the bed and dragged out a black tactical duffel bag.
Inside was an arsenal of heavy firepower and the black combat suit I hadn't worn in seven years.
The show was about to begin.
...
Meanwhile, the grand hall of the estate was dazzling and deafening.
The most powerful Mafia Capos in Europe were all present.
Carlos stood on the high stage, basking in their fear and flattery.
Beside him, Angelina wore a breathtaking custom gown and a priceless diamond necklace, looking every bit the queen.
She was radiant, her eyes overflowing with pride and triumph.
Carlos raised his glass. The hall instantly fell silent.
"Brothers!" His voice echoed with passion and ambition.
"Today, I have an important announcement!"
He pulled Angelina in by the waist, looking at her with deep affection.
"From this day forward, Angelina will be my only wife, and the sole Godmother of our family!"
"Anyone who disrespects her declares war on Don Carlos!"
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.
Angelina covered her mouth, tears of joy spilling over.
She soaked in the absolute peak of her life, feeling like she had the entire world under her heel.
Just as Carlos raised his glass to toast—
Bzzzt—
The chandeliers flickered violently. A piercing screech of static tore through the microphones.
Then, every security comm in the perimeter flashed red. The signal was dead.
"What's going on?!" Carlos roared, his face dropping.
The head of security ran in, sweating profusely.
"Godfather! The men outside... we've lost contact with all of them!"
Angelina shrank into Carlos's chest in terror.
"Carlos, I'm scared..."
"Don't be. I'm here. Nobody pulls this shit on my turf!"
Carlos drew his solid gold Don's crest Glock, his face twisting into a snarl.
But the moment the words left his mouth—
The massive, multi-ton bulletproof doors of the estate were blown off their hinges by a direct hit from an RPG!
The immense shockwave, mixed with fire and thick smoke, blasted the dozen elite guards at the entrance into the air, turning them into a mist of blood and meat.
Screams erupted. Capos dove for cover.
Through the settling dust and smoke.
Dressed in a skin-tight black combat suit, stepping over shattered glass and mangled corpses, I walked in slowly.
In one hand, I carried a heavy Minigun, the barrels still smoking.
In the dead silence of the hall, I slowly raised my head and pointed the massive black barrels straight at Carlos's bloodless face on the stage.
"Carlos. Throwing a Godmother's coronation without your actual wife?"
