When I woke up, I was in the hospital. Everything hurt, like I'd been torn apart and stitched back together.

Guess I didn't die after all.

A strange sense of disappointment washed over me.

Suddenly, a heated argument broke out outside my door. I could hear Lana's voice through the door, hoarse, rough.

"Ethan, you're a doctor. Can't you see how sick your wife is? Are you blind?" she shouted.
