Chapter 2
The room fell into a deathly silence. Isaac's face drained of every trace of color. His lips parted.
"No…" he suddenly shouted and turned to me sharply.
"Turn this damn thing off!" he yelled.
Regina stood frozen.
The wineglass slipped from her fingers and shattered across the marble floor. Her entire body trembled.
My voice rang out loudly across the hall.
"My darling husband and his so-called family sister have been fucking each other for four years now." I announced.
"Long before I was even married to him."
Everyone let out a loud gasp. Their eyes widened at the shocking news.
I turned to Peter, who was frozen by the scene playing on the screen. "I suggest you get a paternity test for your son," I let out.
Regina's eyes shot toward me, smoldering.
A sly smile rested on my face. "He looks a lot like my husband," I revealed.
The hall fell silent again, thrown into another wave of shock, they all seemed to be putting the pieces together.
Suddenly, Peter's voice thundered. "You useless woman!"
Regina turned to him instantly, her body trembling, her face completely pale.
"Honey…" she whispered.
Pure rage flashed through his eyes. "Is it true you gave me another man's child?" he roared.
His outburst attracted even more attention.
I could see the flashes of phones. Perfect, just what I wanted.
Regina rushed toward him and fell to her knees in front of his wheelchair. Tears poured down her cheeks.
"Peter, please. It's all a lie."
She turned to me, pointing.
"She's making it all up," Regina accused.
Peter slapped her across the face in a blink, sending her to the ground.
"You crazy woman! The entire room just watched you getting fucked by another man!"
Isaac's eyes flashed with anger when he saw his mistress on the floor, and he quickly moved to help her up.
"Are you alright?" he asked, holding her close.
The gesture only made the room erupt into louder gasps. Peter clenched his fists hard, his furious eyes landing on Isaac.
"You betrayer!"
Isaac opened his mouth. "Mr. Goldman, please…"
"Don't call me that!" Peter snapped again.
He pointed a trembling finger at him. "Our partnership is over," he declared.
Everyone gasped and whispered all at once. I watched everything silently from the side, enjoying every single bit of the moment.
Peter's breathing became heavier. "And I swear, Isaac Jacob…"
His voice dropped into something terrifying. "I'll destroy everything you've built."
He turned to Regina with undisguised disgust. His eyes were colder than ice.
"As for you, be ready to sign the divorce papers."
Without another glance, he gestured to his assistant.
"Take me out of here."
The guests hurried aside, creating a path as Peter was wheeled out of the hall. The door slammed shut, and silence followed.
Isaac, who was still holding Regina, slowly lifted his head. Dozens of eyes were fixed on him.
He slowly let go, realizing the situation. His blazing eyes turned to me instead, and he charged forward.
"You crazy bitch!" his voice boomed, his hand was raised high to strike me.
At that moment, he had forgotten his false act as my loving husband. I stared into his eyes without fear.
"You really want to hit me in front of all these people?" I questioned.
He turned around and saw all the witnesses staring back at him, their cameras raised, recording the moment.
His hand slowly dropped to his side, his face turning blank.
"Since when did you know about this?" he questioned.
He moved closer to hold my shoulders. "You should have come to me."
I let out a scoff augh.
How shameless.
"Why? So you could find a way to stop me?"
Isaac's face grew even more rigid. Icould see he was stopping himself from reacting.
"You misunderstand," he let out with a breath and moved closer again.
I didn't move back.
My hand slid into my purse, and I took out the recording before pressing play.
The voices echoed loudly across the hall.
"Your wife is such a dumbass. "Regina's laugh rang out.
"I can't believe she really thought we were discussing business."
Isaac's chuckle followed. "There's a reason why I married her," he said proudly.
There was movement, followed by the sound of a kiss.
"Do you think she can hear us now?" Regina's voice sounded nasty.
"Even if she heard anything, she wouldn't believe it. She loves me too much."
They both chuckled.
"Next week, let's take a vacation with our son," Isaac let out.
"Just tell your dumb husband you're taking him to visit your parents."
I paused the recording. I looked at him. My eyes searched his.
"Why exactly did you marry me?" My voice shook a little.
He stared back at me, I couldn't find any remorse or regret.
"Because I love you," he answered quickly through gritted teeth, gripping my waist and pulling me close.
I yanked myself free and, with all the strength I could muster, slapped him hard across the face.
His eyes widened. He turned back with a furious glare.
I didn't stop there.
My hand rose again, and I slapped him once more. Harder than the first.
My eyes welled up with tears, not from weakness, but from hate.
For the past three years of unfaithfulness, for all the pain he had caused me.
Gasps erupted around us, people backed away as Isaac staggered backward, trying to escape, but I chased after him and slapped him again, in the same spot, each slap harder than the last.
Regina jumped at me and tried to stop me.
I shoved her away with a kick.
"Go to hell," I spat.
I turned to Isaac, who looked terrified now. His face was swollen and red.
I stepped toward him. I wasn't done with him yet.
