Chapter 1
I stood outside my matrimonial room and listened to my darling husband, Isaac, fuck his so-called sister, Regina Wesley.
Words failed me as I dropped my phone, which was recording.
The creaking sound of the bed grew louder, so did the moans.
Every sound felt like I was being slammed by a sledgehammer, my fists clenched tighter until my palms bled.
Tears fell from my eyes, but not because of the hurt, they fell because I realized how big of a fool I had been.
Even though I'd seen many men cheat, I always believed mine would be different. I had devoted my life to this marriage so it could be perfect.
Always cooking, washing, pleasing the in-laws, appearing beside him as the beautiful wife who could be paraded anywhere. Giving him sex whenever he asked for it, even when I was fucking sick.
But clearly, that was not enough.
I was just his trophy wife, helping him maintain the perfect husband image online.
My Instagram page was filled with videos and pictures of our perfect home.
I had paved the way for my darling husband, and this was how he repaid me.
Again, I lifted my hand to take a long, clear video of their scene.
After that, I walked back downstairs to pick up the bag of groceries. Without a word, I went into the kitchen and prepared dinner.
An hour later, I heard footsteps approaching just as I was setting the table.
"Lola," Regina called with a smile.
She came closer and took a sniff.
"Oh, smells nice," she said.
I smiled calmly, pretending nothing had happened.
Pretending I had not just seen her fuck my husband.
"Would you be joining us for dinner?" I asked politely.
She shook her head.
"No. I have to go home. Peter will be waiting," Regina replied.
"Come on, I'm sure he wouldn't mind," I said and watched her hesitate at first. Then she nodded.
I pulled out a seat for her.
"Honey," I called to Isaac, who was standing behind her, and gave him a peck on the cheek.
He returned the kiss and settled into his chair.
"Why don't you two eat first? I'll catch up with you," I said as I put my phone on voice recording and placed it on the table.
I turned and hurried upstairs to find Isaac's phone. He always forgot it in the drawer after he'd had his fun. I picked it up and cracked his password in ten seconds.
I searched through everything.
Everything I had ignored while playing the good wife.
Fifteen minutes later, I was back downstairs, the two were done eating by then. ooks like they had exhausted so much energy.
I smiled. "Whoa, you two must be really hungry," I said and laughed.
As I packed the dishes, I picked up my phone and headed to the kitchen. I checked the conversation screenshots I had just sent from Isaac's phone.
Evidences, load of them. Then I played the recording.
Every bit of their conversation mocked me for being a fool, and it also revealed another one of their secrets.
After I was done listening, I covered my mouth with my hands and lowered myself to the ground as my tears poured out in a rush.
—
I stood beside the mirror and stared at myself in the matching dress Isaac had bought for me.
Tonight was the annual Jacob family's end-of-year party, held at the family's hotel.
Mother-in-law had made it a compulsory tradition, and I was the one who got stuck with all the responsibility of making it happen.
"You need to impress Mr. Foster tonight. I invited him."
Isaac came up behind me.
He moved closer and placed a silver necklace around my neck. I touched it and it elt like a shackle. I swallowed hard as I forced a smile onto my face.
"Of course," I replied.
He smiled and leaned in for a kiss on the lips, but I dodged and offered my cheek instead.
Soon, everyone arrived. Family and friends filled the room.
I walked around, carrying out my duty as the good wife, attending to everyone and making sure everything was going well.
"You never fail to surprise me every year, Lola."
I turned to see Regina.
She was dressed in a black dress with a shiny silver necklace around her neck. The same one I was wearing.
"Nice necklace," I said.
Her fingers brushed over it. "Oh, this? I asked Isaac to get it for me," she said with a chuckle.
Her eyes met mine.
"Looks like we share the same taste," she said.
I chuckled softly.
"Seems so," I replied. "I hope you're not leaving early tonight. I have a surprise for everyone."
I didn't wait for her response before walking away.
Regina stood there, glaring at my back.
Twenty seconds before the clock struck twelve, I wheeled Peter into the hall, catching everyone's attention.
Isaac hurried toward me.
"Mr. Goldman," he said, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
His eyes flashed a glare at me.
"Your wife personally invited me," Peter replied.
Regina also came closer. "Honey," she called, her smile turning stiff.
Her gaze darted to me.
A calm smile spread across my face.
"Everyone," I called out.
The whole room turned to me. "To my darling husband, the love of my life, I have a big gift," I announced.
I could see the confusion plastered across Isaac's face and the scowl on Regina's.
Everyone's attention focused on me, I turned to the screen I had prepared and snapped my fingers.
The screen lit up, and the video began to play, loud and clear for everyone to see.
My husband and his mistress's sex video.
I picked up a glass of wine and turned to Isaac.
"Happy New Year, Honey."
