Samuel's face went pale at my words. He grabbed my hand anxiously, his voice desperate. "Navy, I swear I didn't."

I looked deeply into Samuel's eyes, but stayed silent.

After the Jennings Group shut down, Connor made a point to see me before he handed in his resignation.

His face, usually so calm, was full of regret. When Connor saw me, he said, "I'm sorry, Ms. Jennings. I can't work for you anymore."
