Dad didn't like Mom. The kids at kindergarten said that parents always slept together, but my parents never did. That changed the day we were kidnapped by a group of bad men. Mom managed to call Dad. His voice came roaring through the phone, full of rage. "If you want to die, then go die already. Do not drag that bastard in front of me and put on a show." Mom hurriedly covered my ears, but the words still leaked out of the phone. By the seventh day, Mom lay beside me, sleeping very quietly. Red water mixed with dirt soaked into the ground. My stomach hurt so badly. "Daddy, do not cry," I whispered. "I will turn into a star too, just like Mommy."
