Chapter 6
Lucas had been on his way to the company for work, but he unexpectedly stumbled upon this scene. His seemingly delicate wife was now wielding his name and looking incredibly imposing just after marrying him for a couple of hours.
Robert watched this mess silently. Sensing the impatience clouding Lucas' brows, he quietly looked away. He thought Ethan was truly foolish—with that distant, barely-there family connection, Lucas would never show him mercy.
Julia just stared coldly at Lucas and Ethan. For a brief moment, their eyes met. She barely knew this man, but his deep eyes felt harder to fathom than an abyss.
Under everyone's gaze, Lucas turned to the bodyguards and said coldly with deterrence, "What are you waiting for?"
"Yes, sir!" A chill ran down the bodyguards' spines. Then, they immediately grabbed both Bianca and Ethan.
"Lucas?" Ethan was stunned, but suddenly remembered something and hurried to say, "Lucas, Grandma Mabel will be angry if you do this to me and Bianca."
Lucas narrowed his eyes, a cold, sharp smile playing on his lips. "You're threatening me?"
Ethan's spine went cold, but he pressed on, "No, that's not what I mean, please don't misunderstand me. I just remembered Grandma Mabel telling me she wanted you to visit a couple of days ago."
Lucas stared at Ethan, his gaze as sharp as an eagle's. After a moment, he scoffed, "Very well. Are you done?"
He glanced at the two bodyguards holding Ethan. "If he's done, throw him out."
"Lucas? Lucas!" Ethan's voice faded into the distance. Within a minute, it was gone completely.
The other guests sat stiffly, eating in silence, fearing the aftermath of the farce would engulf them.
Then Lucas walked over to Julia and held out his hand.
Julia instinctively tried to pull away, but Lucas' deep, magnetic voice rang out, full of overwhelming pressure. "Don't move."
He tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, then whispered in her ear, "Ms. Sherwood, you're now part of the Glenn family. Next time, please remember your identity before acting."
It was a warning—and a threat. Julia smiled faintly. Under Lucas' sharp gaze, she adjusted his tie. "Being Mrs. Glenn comes with so many restrictions? I thought the privileges would be greater."
Lucas narrowed his eyes, sizing her up with a hint of displeasure.
The few people nearby watched them, assuming they were being affectionate. They sighed, thinking the rumors outside were false—these two were clearly deeply in love.
Lucas' expression turned icy. He grabbed her hand tightly. "You'd better behave. Otherwise, I can let you in... and I can just as easily kick you out."
After saying that, he walked away without looking back.
Julia stared at his retreating figure, frowning. The Glenn family was her best bargaining chip for revenge. No matter what, she had to hold onto it tightly.
Thinking of the task her adoptive father, Ross Hunt, had given her, Julia formed a plan in her mind.
As she pondered, she suddenly felt her skirt being tugged downward. She looked down and found a cute little girl standing beside her—unnoticed until now.
"Mommy," the little girl called affectionately. She was as beautiful as an unrealistic doll, drawing admiring glances from anyone who saw her.
Yet Julia stared at her fixedly, her heart feeling as if it had been tightly squeezed. For some reason, she immediately thought of the children taken from her three years ago.
Her breathing grew heavy, and she could feel her own strong, thudding heartbeat.
"She's not our mommy," a cool kid said. Julia's thoughts were jolted back to the present.
