Chapter 2
Waiting for Ethan was so long and torturous for Julia. After what felt like an eternity, dragging complaints echoed down the corridor.
Ethan grumbled impatiently, "She just had a baby—why isn't she resting instead of making a fuss?"
His words made Julia's already painful heart ache even more.
Her relationship with Ethan had never been great, but after all these years together, he'd been pretty good to her overall.
Ethan had even said they'd get married as soon as the baby was born.
No one knew how much she'd looked forward to this little one's arrival. His careful care during her pregnancy had made her mistakenly think he wanted the baby just as much as she did.
But she was wrong. It had all been a scheme.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Ethan stood lazily by Julia's bed, his face filled with disgust.
"Ethan, Julia just gave birth—speak to her more gently," Bianca Reed, Ethan's mistress, cooed from the side.
Her words drew a sneer from Ethan. He said, "So what? She's just a baby-making tool. Besides, she's as fat as a pig—how could she be this weak just from having a kid?"
Julia glared at him fiercely, trembling with anger at his words. Her eyes blazed with overwhelming hatred, as if she wanted to tear Ethan apart.
"Who's the father of the babies?" She gritted her teeth with all her strength. "Tell me!"
Ethan froze for a moment, then remembered his careless words in the corridor before Julia went into labor. But he didn't care. Regaining his composure, he scoffed disdainfully, "Don't you know who you've slept with?"
Julia was consumed with rage.
In the three years she'd been with Ethan, they'd never had sex. Until ten months ago, when Ethan prepared a candlelit dinner and she got drunk. After that, she couldn't remember what happened.
But when she woke up, she was lying in bed with Ethan. He said they'd slept together, and she'd never doubted it.
"Why did you do this?" Julia pulled out the IV needle from her hand, forcing her shattered body to sit up in the bed as blood gushed from the puncture.
She stumbled to her feet and pressed, "What the hell do you want?"
"What do I want?" Ethan grinned. "Naturally, to get the most out of you."
"You jerk." Julia suddenly rushed forward and pushed him.
Ethan steadied himself, then sharply pushed her back onto the bed without mercy.
"Julia, look at all that fat on you. All these years with you, I've felt sick every time I saw you," said Ethan.
"I can't even hold your hand without scrubbing mine repeatedly when I get home. It's already good that a pig like you can bring me benefits," Ethan added.
Sharp pains shot through Julia's abdomen. Her face twisted in agony, and fine sweat beads broke out on her forehead.
Ethan put his arm around Bianca, who was watching the scene with amusement, "Listen. From today on, we have nothing to do with each other."
Fighting through the pain, Julia started at him and asked, "What are you going to do with my babies—"
"That's none of your business," Ethan snorted. "Anyway, you'll never see them again."
With that, he turned to leave.
Julia rushed forward and grabbed his arm, screaming, "The babies are so little—you can't take them away! Let me see them!"
Ethan's eyes were filled with utter disgust. "They're being sent away. What's the point of seeing them?"
"Aren't you afraid I'll tell everyone about what you did? Think about your acting career," Julia said.
