Chapter 4
He said, "Why are you dragging up this matter again?"
I said, "If you have nothing to hide, why are you afraid of me bringing up the past?"
Travis rubbed his forehead irritably.
He said, "It's pointless talking to you. I'm not bothering with you."
He turned and walked away.
But I felt my anger surge and hurried after him quickly.
I said, "Travis, stop right there. Explain exactly what you mean by that!"
Travis shouted irritably, "I don't care what you are talking about, but I have to pick up the kids today, no matter what."
The moment I heard it, my heart shattered.
He actually shouted at me because of those three kids.
I gritted my teeth and shouted back angrily, "If you dare do that, I'll jump from here!"
We were in our master bedroom on the third floor. The room occupied an entire floor.
We were over 90 feet high.
If I did jump, I would surely be dead.
Travis's footsteps abruptly stopped.
He stood still, not turning back yet.
I gritted my teeth and decided to go all out, then rushed toward the hollow railing.
At that moment, Travis finally turned around.
He came over, stopped me with a grab, and carried me back.
His angry scolding filled my ears.
He said, "What's wrong with you? Stop threatening to kill yourself at every turn. You're almost fifty years old, yet you still act so impulsively!"
His scolding made my tears fall uncontrollably, feeling extremely wronged.
I said, "Isn't it all because you wouldn't agree with me and kept going against my wishes? It's all your fault, you damn jerk."
Travis was so angry he was at a loss for words.
But he did not let go of me.
He took several deep breaths.
In the end, his expression appeared much calmer.
He said, "Enough, I'll go with your wish. Stop acting like it's such a big matter."
Seeing this, I reluctantly nodded.
He added, "If I don't bring them back, can I have someone send them money? At least they'll have enough to eat and stay warm."
I widened my eyes and blurted out, "No way!"
Travis looked so angry it seemed like he really wanted to hit me.
But he forced himself to hold back.
He gritted his teeth and demanded, "Why?"
I said, "If you suddenly give them a large sum of money for no reason, it will make them suspicious. Let them keep things as they are for now. I don't want Wilfrid and the others to feel upset."
Travis looked like he was so angry that he was about to laugh.
He suddenly closed his eyes.
After waiting for almost a minute, he opened his eyes with a dark expression.
He was about to speak when I interrupted him.
I said, "I don't care. If you don't agree, I'll jump from here."
As I spoke, I tried to rush forward again, but a strong hand at my waist held me firmly in place.
I looked up at Travis.
Travis's expression looked terrible.
His gaze was sharp and fierce, like a lion commanding respect without anger.
From what I knew about him, he really seemed on the verge of losing his temper with me.
He was right at the edge of exploding.
I softened my expression slightly, leaning against him with a defensive move, and couldn't help but sigh.
But then he rolled his eyes.
Immediately, I got so angry that I wanted to argue with him again.
However, I thought that if I argued with him again, he would really lose his temper.
I forced myself to suppress the urge to throw a fit.
